I spotted a few mushrooms today, but I thought I’d share the mushrooms I created instead. Sometimes, when life brings a little sadness, making something with my hands really cheers me up.
This project was quite difficult for me and took a while to finish. At one point, I was asking myself why I had even started it! But as it slowly began to take shape, it lit me up and motivated me to keep going. I managed to finish it just in time for #fungifriday by @ewkaw.

So, I decided to micro-crochet Amanita muscaria.

I used a tiny 0.60 mm crochet hook along with red and cream sewing thread. With this type of material, hand coordination and control are really important, and most of all, patience.
It is so tiny that I had to cut my nails short just to get a good grip on it. Lol!

The mushroom cap was made using single crochet stitches with increases up to the second row, then single crochet throughout.

I also made the underside and the stem separately.

Stuffing them lightly before sewing the stem in place.

Not quite there yet, but getting there. At this point, I was starting to get excited.

I carefully attached the stem.

Missing something: the spots!

The iconic white spots were embroidered using French knots.

I couldn't decide what I wanted to do with it once it was finished.

At first, I placed it on my little bonsai tree.

I loved looking at it there, a tiny miniature fly agaric nestled among the moss.

Then I thought about turning it into an earring.

In the end, I used it as a charm on my handmade bracelet. That way, I can always see it when I'm wearing it, and it gives me a little spark of excitement whenever I catch sight of it.

I really enjoyed wearing it, even though it tested my patience, lol.

I find that even the smallest creations can brighten your day.
Have a lovely weekend!
