Our corn is doing really well so far. This was a perfect time for us to play and experience growing corn here in our backyard in El Salvador, which is a totally different corn, compared to the sweet Canadian corn. We have never tried to grow corn in large amounts, like we have now and because we want our own farm and also grow corn on it, this was a great way for us to try it out and play with it.
Right now is a winter season here in El Salvador, so that means it's corn season.
Unfortunately it has been raining way to much this year, so a lot of corn fields were destroyed.
We also thought our corn was all destroyed by the heavy rains, but it came back to life.
Our first corn came out last Friday and then the rest corn followed the next dsy and the next day.
We were worried a bit that it wasn't coming out yet because the corn was so tall. I have not seen corn this tall yet. And we have heard, that if the corn grows too tall, it might not give you any corn.
So we were very excited to see the corn finally come out. And lots of it. Now let's just hope the corn will turn out all healthy and with no warms in it.
The reason that the start of winter is the corn season, is because that is the only time in El Salvador, that people grow corn. They relly on the rain. They don't water their crops. There are not many farms here that use watering system.
Our plan is to grow the corn (other crops also) 2-3 times per year, all year round with a watering system and that is why we are looking for land a source of water.
