Our dance teacher is one of those amazing people — the dedication, the talent, the unending drive to make every kid the best they can be. I seriously don’t know how she does it. Every. Single. Day.

That's my boss (the head coach at our gymnastics club). Those people are next level.

My Concert Night Pack List

Dance outpaces gymnastics in costs because of the million costumes XD I really need to add painkillers to my medpouch. And also top up the adhesive bandages. And I'm still on the lookout for a mythical "perfect size" mini sewing kit that I can eventually replenish how I want when it inevitably runs out (needs to be a very specific size to fit comfortably into the mending pouch alongside existing contents).

I have a bigger bag that has a bigger medkit inside with the strapping tape. Fortunately haven't had to carry around a toolbox as every gym we've had comps in has one XD

If problems persists poor Ellie might have to get her own TENS machine if yours helped her :S I hope she got that looked at.

The whole show is a nightmare of fast changes

I did one dance concert sidestage and the kids needing the fast changes had three of us working on them simultaneously because what is this. Fortunately none of them needed drastic hair changes because some of those styles were ~~permanently cemented in place and would outlast the heat death of the universe~~ had a lot of hairpsray.

How did everything go? :D

yeah i think you have to be crazy next level to motivate little kids (lots of energy) and then pre teen and omg teen girls into doing what you say... lol...

100% we have more costumes, although the price on those gorgeous rhythmic leos ... OMG that is next level... (though again comparing to say a tutu from a ballet... they are pricy too). I love watching them in the olympics, those Russian twins... OMG. although they have retired now i think?

What sort of gymnastics does your club do? mine are desperate to do that too... and im like....pffff... nope (though lots of our dance girls do and most can manage walk overs and basic aerials and flips). they go to a special class at another location. my sewing kit carrys little super glue, duct tape, black and white thread, clear elastic, needles, safety pins and little snips. my "more robust one" has a few extras.

My TENS machine is awesome, i got it off Amazon, though Chemist warehouse also sell them online. does EMS TENS and massage and has two channels so can do 4 pads at once. i like it a lot.. it was fairly reasonable price too... although the pads wear out sticky fairly quick and need replacing, it ssure cheaper than physio all the time! Can highly recommend it!!

Well.... 4 hours BEFORE the dress rehearsal, the little one spiked a fever of 39.2... so it went well.... She still danced... and we made it through all 21 dances.... had a couple of hickups and one dance my big one went on with the wrong hair clips and one costume was entirely an oopps and she danced in a leotard. good thing we have the dress rehearsal. We missed dance today as she spike 40.3 temp over night and the big one as well... so its been ... as expected.... a shit show... lol

LoL! Little kids are easy if you know how to deal with them XD and definitely very high energy!

There are some really nice leotards out there with price tags to match! I remember one of the now-retired gymnasts saying how she "accidentally" bought the gorgeous one she was wearing to training that day XD

Our club does artistic gymnastics (the one with the multiple apparatuses) and only club levels (we do have interclub comps with other clubs). There's quite a bit of crossover with dance for the girls. Gymnastics and dance together would be quite expensive especially if you're doing state/national levels x_x

The backstage shenanigans do sound familiar from the one time I did it and also like the leadup to all of our end of year displays XD

kids are a box of dancing ducks.... but i have come dow with the Influenza A yesterday... so that is great timing... supposed to be making gift hampers for the concert and helping with prizegiving set up tomorrow... cries.... concert saturday. I'll be right... show goes on despite the fact that 50% of the studio has Influenza A....

so despite some coughs and a bit worn out they are now fine... you know you know when the kids are better when the start having energy to fight!!!

yeah gymnastics is expensive as like dance there are large contact hours at the studios... i alwasy used to think it was crazy how many hours they did at the gym... then now with my kids dancing im like... oh yeah... that DOES happen...

Oops I thought I double posted and was trying to delete the duplicate and away went the whole comment into the depths of the blockchain somewhere XD

I was just saying how that's probably how half the studio came down with influenza A with the show going on XD

Glad the kids are getting better and hope you're not far behind :)
