What better way to treat yourself after waiting to be called for two hours? - A bowl of salmon tanindon and brewed iced tea!
Yesterday, I went to the clinic to have my lab results be read and interpreted by a doctor. I arrived there around 10:40 am and there were lots of patients waiting to be called already. They were there for their annual physical exam as required by their respective companies. (My apology if there’s no photo accompanying this because we are not allowed to take photos or videos inside the facility).
Moving on, I waited for two hours to be called. It was past lunchtime so you can imagine how my tummy was doing by then.
After I was told that everything was normal, I went straight to the mall and looked for a place where I could have lunch. I was so hungry I could eat a horse. Hahaha
After checking out some restaurants in the food court called "Eat Street",
I saw Takoyadon, a Japanese restaurant. Since I love fish, I decided to try something new in their menu - a bowl of salmon tanindon.
The word salmon is already very inviting because it is not only healthy, it’s delicious, too. (Just a bit pricey though - hehe)
Tanindon in Japanese means ‘a bowl of rice dish’. Therefore, salmon tanindon simply means a bowl of salmon + rice. But that’s not it. It is garnished with eggs, green onions, and some secret spices ( I believe it has some oyster sauce as well).
I ordered one bowl and decided to have it with brewed iced tea.
Then, I looked for a vacant table and waited for my order to be prepared.
Once it’s ready, I couldn’t be more excited to have a taste of it. (like a puppy excitedly waiting for his treats - hehehe)
The salmon was cooked in perfection, not overcooked, not raw, just the way I like it. It tastes so good I actually finished the whole bowl.
The brewed iced tea didn’t disappoint, either. It was just perfect for the dish.
Once done, I headed back home. I enjoyed my lunch but while eating I couldn’t help thinking about my daughter and my husband. I knew they would have enjoyed the meal as much as I did if they were with me.
Thus, your guess is as good as mine. I bought them pasalubong (a take-home treat, which I will be sharing here another day).
Thank you for reading and I hope you are all having a great day!
Happy eating!
