Good evening from Thailand, everyone. Here, it has been raining since noon. Now it's time to prepare a snack for the kids before dinner, especially since they are on their school break. Today, I gave them two snack options: fried or steamed. They chose steamed. So, without delay, I headed to the kitchen to make steamed dumplings with minced pork and sweet corn, served with dipping sauce. It's a simple snack that is delicious and never gets boring.
Ingredients
- 20 sheets of Dumpling wrappers
- 200 grams of Minced pork
- 100 grams of Sweet corn
- 30 grams of Finely diced carrot
- 1 tablespoon of Light soy sauce
- A small amount of Ground black pepper
Dipping Sauce
- 1 tablespoon of Minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon of Sliced fresh chili
- 1 teaspoon of Toasted white sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons of Light soy sauce
- 1 tablespoons of Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of Warm water
Instructions
Prepare a mixing bowl. I add the minced pork, sweet corn, and carrot. Mix them together well.
I season only with light soy sauce and ground black pepper.
Mix thoroughly until well combined and let it marinate for 20 minutes.
Next, prepare to wrap the dumplings. Place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center of a dumpling wrapper. Then, fold and roll the edges tightly to seal.
Place the dumplings on a steaming tray. (I line mine with banana leaves). Steam over boiling water for 15 minutes, or until cooked through.
While waiting for the dumplings to cook, I make the simple dipping sauce. Put the garlic, chili, and toasted white sesame seeds into a bowl. Add the light soy sauce, vinegar, and warm water. Stir everything together well.
Once the dumplings are cooked, arrange them on a plate. Serve hot with the dipping sauce.
Taking a soft, fragrant, and steaming hot dumpling from the steamer and dipping it into the bold, flavorful sauce, the first sensation I experience is the sour, spicy, salty, and aromatic taste of the dipping sauce.
This is followed by the sweet tenderness of the minced pork, the crisp crunch of the corn and carrot, and the delightful fragrance that spreads in the mouth.
Eating it with lettuce creates a perfect harmony of flavors in a single bite. It's a dish that is both fresh, clean, and makes me feel good every time I make and eat it.
How about some simple, healthy, delicious, and filling steamed snacks?
Thank you all for stopping by. See you again! 😊 ~ Bye
