Happy Sunday Hivers!
Now that we are all grown up, opportunities to spend time together as a family have become rare. Everyone has their own priorities and busy work schedules. It becomes even more difficult when some family members are working overseas. That is one of the main reasons why family gatherings happen only once in a while, making every moment we share together even more meaningful and worth cherishing.
Although our family wasn't complete, we still made time to get together and enjoy each other's company after our nephew arrived.
Whenever we have gatherings like this, we no longer cook at home. Instead, we simply order food from our neighbor, which makes everything much more convenient and allows us to spend more time enjoying each other's company. We usually order our favorite Filipino dishes, such as grilled fish, kinilaw (Filipino-style ceviche), calamares, lumpia shanghai, and bam-i. These delicious dishes always make our family gatherings even more enjoyable and satisfying.
Did you know that in the Philippines, some families choose to sit on the floor during gatherings even when there are plenty of chairs available? That's exactly how we are. We simply enjoy sitting on the floor while sharing a meal because it feels more relaxed, comfortable, and brings everyone closer together. Even when we're having a few drinks, we just stay seated on the floor, chatting, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. It's a simple, but it's one of the things that makes our family gatherings so warm, memorable, and special.
After we finished our meal, my brothers and my nephew enjoyed a few glass of beer while spending time together. At the same time, my nephew began distributing the pasalubong (gifts) that he had brought for the family. Everyone was excited and grateful to receive our gifts, making the gathering even more joyful and memorable.
Moments like these are truly special because they don't happen very often, so we made the most of the opportunity to bond, laugh, and create wonderful memories together.
