Amarin at Mid Valley - authentic Thai Restaurant

Mid valley city is one of the most iconic shopping mall back in the days(it still holds a significant reputation despite all the latest malls blooming up in Kuala Lumpur). Having the name of mid valley, it's literally situated right at the middle of Klang Valley, anywhere between Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, it's situated right at the middle.

Since my bunch of ex-colleagues from previous job had moved on with our career path, our workplace is everywhere now. So, the best we can think of for a short dinner gathering, will be mid valley. That way, each of us can come to the middle ground and meetup for a dinner get together.

Amarin is one of the well known Thai Restaurant chain, their service is probably one of the better ones that I can recall. Even when I trying to make a last minute booking, the service staff is having a grin on his face like there's something on my face(oh wait... I think there's something on my face) and helped me to secure a very beautiful window view table for 6.

Unfortunately, 2 of my ex-colleagues didn't make it, so we decided not to take up extra space and gave up our window view, opted for a decent rectangular table for 4. First to came to our table is none other than the famouse deep fry egg. For your record, I never like this kind of deep fried eggs as it usually soaked with a ton of cooking oil. Mentally, it keeps reminding me of the cholesterol level, and physically it can taste quite disgusting if the excessive oil didn't drain properly. Nevertheless, Amarin did a great job in removing the excess oil, the egg remain crumbling crunch, salty and easy to go down with rice. I know, I know, @gooddream is reminding me of my diet already.

Followed by fried spring rolls. We didn't order extra, since it's more than 4 pieces, it's more than enough for the 4 of us. The spring rolls skins are properly fried, extremely crunchy. Dipped with the sweet and sour chili sauce, soon as the carrot and turnip slices blasted out from the crunchy skin, omg it's so damn juicy! I don't find the extra shrimp at the back any significant, perhaps @justinparke and family can have this without the shrimp, it will make a perfect vegan dish.

Salted egg buttermilk pan fried squid is yet another mouth watering dish we had that night. Salted egg yolk is already salty, added to the natural sweet squid rings, and the curry powder would make up the rest of the explosiveness for this plate of taste treasure.

It's been a while since I wrote Restaurant review, I don't even remember to take photos of the restaurant dinning area and it's front. One thing to highlight, they don't have a built in restroom in the restaurant. So, if half way you need to use the loo, you'll have to walk out from the restaurant and proceed to the nearby public toilet of the shopping mall. Afraid not, no entrance fee. Anyway, take notice of the generous amount of white rice being offered.

Last but not least, complete with a bowl of less spicy green curry. We Malaysian are known to be one of the spicy king where most of our taste buds are fully armoured. However, in comparison with Thai, we're only the kindergarten grades armour. When come to spicy stuff, Thai people don't play. You will rather order a less spicy version to begin with. In case you can tolerate, you can add more spicy to it. But if you ordered a bowl of kerosene, too late you can't possibly be adding water to dilute you curry right 🤣

Remember the generous amount of white rice they offered? I have already told my buddy I'm on diet, so I won't be taking too much of that white rice. You wanna guess where are the rest of the white rice goes? Since my buddy is not cooperative enough.

That mark my wonderful get together dinner with my wonderful ex-colleagues. The bull came to slightly above 200, but it's all good. We all had a blast. Food is good, service is great, my company is marvelous. I guess the only downside is, my table being the noisiest amongst all, hopefully we didn't make the restaurant get a lower rating review. Oh on an unrelated note, I finally bought a new phone, but decided to take pictures with my old Redmi 10 for all my blog use. I'm trying to separate my work stuff from here.

Hi, David! How's it going? I remember during my visit you brought me to Mid Valley. This the same one?

By the way, I'm now living in Singapore. Reminds me a bit of KL but a lot more expensive. 😂

That's the one yeah.

Come by anytime if you are free. I will be here.

What a cool place and photos 😁😁😁😁

Thank you very much. Food is unusually great.

You did really enjoyed the spot and the food. Take care always with you all guys.

Yes. The environment is good, the staff is attentive, food is great.

Good service is what keeps customer coming back.

That meal sounds absolutely delicious 💖 And it's great that you had such a wonderful time with your friends ✨ So mouthwatering! 🤤 Sounds like a perfect evening 💕

Absolutely. Make every moment count.

Reading your post made me hungry. From the crispy spring rolls to that salted egg buttermilk squid, it's like every dish is a winner.

Yes and easy to go down with a bunch of rice. If you visit Malaysia, lemme know and I will bring you here.

Deal! If I ever make it to Malaysia!😀

It is really a pleasure to visit this wonderful shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur and to visit the food here. But I believe very well that you are a food lover. I really like the squeak with salted egg butter. But such dishes are added with vegetables which are delicious and full of fun to eat. Thank you for sharing your beautiful time with us during your happy meal.

Thank you for the very descriptive and detail reply. Much appreciate it. Cheers buddy.

Your most welcome my pleasure

wah bro you really enjoy good food recently :). we still havent makan yet lol

I just woke up 5am and it shows your reply as 2 hours ago. May be you should makan sleep first 😌

o.o lol ya i sent that at 3am i think dont remember already

mid valley as a middle ground makes sense, but what caught my eye is the total just over 200 for that spread. as an accountant, my wallet and and my calculator both nod because that is solid value for a dinner with mains and generous rice. im laughing at the diet note too, i say let the numbers rest today and enjoy the meal.

Ah yes. Sorry I forgot to mentioned about the currency. RM200 is around 40 in US dollars 😂

I have always taking it easy when comes to diet. That's the reason I'm still dieting after decades of inconsistent weight loss journey 🤣

RM200 for four at a sit down place sounds like solid value to me. Forty dollar feels fair given all those mains and teh generous rice :) I just enjoy it, then reset next day, so the diet keeps limping along. I dont blame you for taking it easy. Was the squid as good as it reads?

Thanks again for the comment buddy. You looked like you know your stuff. I just went over hoping to give back support to you, but there is no post there. Your Hive wallet suggested you are not new to this ecosystem. So, all I can do is give you a follow and hope that you will start authoring some posts 🙏

appreciate the follow, yeah the wallet can be a bit confusing. Ive jsut signed up and am still setting things up, so no posts yet, but that dinner chat nudged me to start with simple food and budget notes. Thinking to share a quick take on RM prices vs daily eats, nothing fancy. Would a short recap like yours be a good start? :)

You can take whichever idea you want from any of my posts. You can even @ me in any of your posts to alert me if you wish to. Also, authoring a post via community sites may actually help to engage with designated audience groups. Your nickname suggested you're that Indian guy 😂 maybe you can start with #indiaunited community. Lemme try to call for @bhattg hopefully he can provide you some extra guidance.
