the Christmas market at Munich Airport

in Ecency15 hours ago

we had an extra long layover at Munich Airport with 6 hours waiting time for our connecting flight. luckily, there was a huge outdoor Christmas market in the open area between terminals 1 and 2. there were lots of stalls featuring creative gifts, traditional local food, an ice skating rink and of course lots of Christmas lights, trees and decorations. so passing the time suddenly was turned from a dreaded bore to a few hours of delightful merriment.

i think Santa was out on an errand. he is pretty busy this time of year

i hadn't been doing much ice skating for years and my wife never has so we didn't risk any injuries during travel but other folks were enjoying with an occasional fall

lots of creativity in the gifts for sale and the prices were quite acceptable. unfortunately our carryon bags were already full and near the weight limit but we did manage to buy a couple of small items

these lanterns were gorgeous and under other circumstances i probably would have made a purchase

i don't know how many departing passengers could spring for these wonderful fun figures, maybe some of the arriving ones could swing it

food and drink were obvious choices for anybody with a long layover

i'll never get used to the German habit of eating while standing

this is more like it

well at this airport even time flies. gotta go find our gate
