If you're into Open Source, Linux or just Freedom, you might want to pop along to this:

I've not been to one of these in a while. Might not make it this time, but I'm sure it will be fun.

I've not been to one in ages. Every year when they advertise, I say to myself:

🧠 "You really should go, Pete."

But I just can't be bothered, plus I'm not a big fan of Manchester. If it were Liverpool, I'd be tempted.

I'll be in Liverpool for the UK Drum Show, but I can only do so many events each year. I'd go to Barcamp London again as that's a nice day out.

I keep promising myself I will go to Liverpool Soup.

Firstly, I remember watching a BBC documentary about twenty years ago on how the project started in Detroit long before it came to the UK. I thought it was an awesome idea and would love to be involved because it's actually close to my heart when it comes to starting a business, etc. Secondly, Liverpool Soup is held at The LEAF, a place I've spent many fantastic nights with brilliant people from the FOSS community.

The downside is that they hold it on a Thursday, and while I could probably get there in time if I left work a little early, I can't really justify travelling eighty-two miles and a night in a Travelodge for something that I'd just go to watch.

I'd not heard of that. There are so many cool events going on and they don't have to be 'corporate' things. People like getting together to build interesting projects. I find a lot of the Hive people are like that and not the 'get rich quick' types that some may expect.

These are just ordinary people trying to either establish or expand their businesses/hobby. I think the biggest prize I've seen was £2K, hardly global takeover stuff, but maybe it could buy a potter a small kiln or something.

We're back to that $5-making-a-difference thing again. 🤣
