When we talk about interaction... I just think this action comes with a price (which, by the way, not everyone is willing to pay).

Writing a comment is just the tip of the iceberg... Going back to interact with users is what keeps the gears turning at Hive.

Sort:

I like to engage in meaningful conversation, but, I don’t easily find organic connections. Small talk truly bores my soul, almost irritating if it's meant to keep conversation going forward. The only member I know here is my beloved friend @meno

Hope to make more friends here

I believe the "microblogging culture" kind of favors empty conversations (most of the times), but that doesn't mean we can't (and shouldn't) break that "rule".

We have a lot of good people here. 😉

Never heard the term “microblogging” but, yes, that functions for me. If there is substance and a boomerang action engagement in place, it’s not small talk.

Agreed and while I appreciate the format I think that contributes a lot to that as well; it can be pretty difficult to have an in-depth conversation with enforced character limits.

Going back to continue conversation is the hardest part

I have to agree on this.

People should do this more often (in a meaningful way, most of the times).

I agree with you (in a more meaningful way)

Commenting is hard work apparently. Unless it's on a popular person's posts where some of it is genuine interaction and a lot of it seems to be people just trying to "get noticed".

Everyone wants a place in the sun, but many people only seek it in the shadows of others.

That's rather profound :) I always figured it was because it's one of the most common blogging rules.

Yes, this is nothing new in this field. Therefore, if many people still act this way today, it means that a lot still needs to change.

That's quite sad to be honest. 😞

I've been seeing "new" blogging "rules" now encouraging being personable and more "you" instead of trying to appear as a "professional" in a "niche" so I guess "everyone" is a bit over them but the shift will be slow.

Eventually, things always change. We just need to learn how to deal with them.

Yes, for a social platform, interaction is essential. It's like sugar in a cake or water in coffee. It's simple logic. 🥴

It's a shame this thought isn't clear enough to all users yet.

Yes, that's a shame.

True!
I've been rewarding comments for quite some time niw. Both with my iwn account as with the @topcomment curation service.

When more people would upvote comments it could be a good incentive to interact more.

There is no culture of encouraging comments with upvotes (at least not yet). So, the work you do is very meaningful.
