Trying to onboard some people to Hive. Explaining to them keychain and how to get it set up is….A struggle.
Nice job. It's pleasant to always have new friends coming in.
Why is it a challenge?
Yep username email and password, anything is else is hmmm that sounds dodgy!
yup. and if it’s too complicated people just give up. they won’t go out of their way to join and learn it
mostly because 99.9% of people that join any website or social media pick a username and password and that’s it.
account keys aren’t user friendly at all.
Yes, I know, but still, once I read about why, I got it, and saved the keys in three different spots. I mean crypto blogging is obviously different, so I don't understand why people find it that hard. I mean I know in THEORY but... Sigh. It's not rocket science...
if that’s the case, we should have tens of thousands of people posting daily and embracing the platforms we have…
it doesn’t matter what you and i feel about it, what does the rest of the internet feel about it.
Oh I'm not really arguing with this fact with YOU - I'm just saying the rest of the internet is a bit daft if that's the only reason they're not signing up.
100%. People are genuinely lazy. And they won't really put in an effort to learn new things. Which is obviously, not a good thing. I think Hive has always had it backwards. We expect the world to bend to us, but rather we don't bend to the world
Well if you are not guided you might find it difficult to navigate here as it's totally different from FB and other web2 platforms.
Oh I agree, I'm not being contrary really - it's just that if you and I figured it out, and we figured out Web 2 platforms (remember they didn't really exist like they do now ten odd years ago!) I'm sure other people can too.
That's our challenge here, no means to onboard new ones, and I'm not finding it funny at all.
I feel you, onboarding can be a real struggle at first. Once they get past setting up Keychain and understanding how it works, everything starts to make sense
