Not necessarily. To assume any post is worth a vote, you first have to be paying attention. Most people are in the habit of scrolling until something gets their attention. Most people are not in the habit of assessing value for reward online, because that doesn't happen in Web 2. So, more than likely, very few think as they scroll by, "That's not worth a vote." More likely, the majority of posts never hit the majority's attention at all.
I think we mean the same thing, we're just using different words to say it.
Not quite ... one viewpoint assumes people are making a negative judgment of other peoples posts, and the other assumes that no judgment is being made because said posts are not even seen. Of course, posts being judged as garbage vs. being practically invisible in plain sight leads to the exact same result... but the paths to get there are different.
I don't think people are looking at the posts and then ignoring them because they're garbage, I think they aren't seeing them at all, like garbage in the street.
I don't assume that's a negative judgement, I'm just trying to figure why this platform's engagement looks so weird.
