Hi everyone. How are you all? I hope you are all very well. Today I’m going to share a very yummy recipe with you. I really like this dish a lot — it’s so enjoyable to eat. So let’s not waste time; I’ll share the potato balachau recipe with you step by step.

Ingredients for Potato balachau 🥔:
- Potato,
2.oil , - Corn flower,
4.salt , - Chili powder ,
6.turmeric powder,
7.rice flour.
8.tomato ,
9.onion,
10.mustard oil ,
11.coriander leaves,
12.green Chili .
Making process:(Potato balachau )
First, take 4 to 5 large-sized potatoes, wash them nicely, and peel them. Then cut them into small thin pieces. After that, wash them again properly and soak them in normal water for about 10–15 minutes. Then drain out the water and keep them aside.
Next, take a bowl and add 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of cornflour, red chili powder as needed, salt as needed, and turmeric powder as needed. Mix everything well.
Now add the drained potato pieces into the flour mixture and mix them thoroughly so that all the pieces get evenly coated.
After that, place a frying pan on the stove, pour in some oil, and keep the flame low. Once the oil becomes slightly hot, add the potato mixture and fry them slowly on low flame. Don’t fry on high flame, or the potatoes might get burnt. So, you have to fry them carefully over low to medium flame.
When the potatoes are nicely fried, take them out — they will look just like store-bought chips! And they taste exactly like that too — super yummy!
If you want, you can store them in a jar like this. They’ll stay good for a long time.

But since I’m going to make balachau, I’ll coat these chips nicely.
For that, take a bowl and add some onion, tomato, salt, mustard oil, and raw chili. Mix everything well, then add the fried potato chips and mix them gently. Your delicious balachau will be ready!
It tastes amazing with hot rice. You can also try making it — trust me, it’s super tasty!

Potato Balachau is a delicious and spicy dish inspired by the traditional Manipuri and Naga-style “balachau.” Unlike the original shrimp version, this one is made with crispy fried potato pieces mixed with onion, tomato, mustard oil, and green chilies. It has a tangy, hot, and flavorful taste that makes it perfect to enjoy with steamed rice. The crispy texture of the potatoes combined with the aroma of mustard oil creates an irresistible flavor. It’s an easy and quick recipe that adds a special twist to everyday meals — simple, spicy, and absolutely mouthwatering!
That’s all for today. Good bye everyone 🤍✨
