Hey Hive!
We're back with more of our home cooking! If you're unfamiliar with this series, it's where I showcase some new recipes I've been trying at home since I've been cooking a lot nowadays! Both because it's cheaper and also healthier to cook for yourself compared to eating out. While I have some regular recipes I do like to try new things and figured I'd share the new ones I've tried.
We bought this pack of Sichuan Spicy Stir Fried Sauce on our first trip to China and it looked pretty simple; the pack itself says it only takes 8 minutes to cook so I was interested to try it and see. I had another pack of frozen pork belly that I thought would be perfect for this since the picture on the packet also used pork belly.

The sauce packet also comes with a recipe with pictures and a QR code with a video as well! It's so useful and very informative. They also have other suggested ways to use this sauce like with prawns.

Here are the ingredients I used:
- 500g pork belly
- 1 pack Sichuan spicy stir fried sauce
- 1 white onion
- chopped garlic
So I actually cooked this on stream, and didn't manage to take many photos of the prep unfortunately.
Step 1: Julienne the onion and slice the pork belly into bite-sized pieces. I like to use a scissors to cut up the meat since it's easier.

Step 2: Heat up some oil in a wok on medium-high heat and stir fry the onions and garlic. Then add in the pork belly.

Step 3: Stir fry the pork belly for about 5 minutes until it changes colour.

Step 4: Once the pork is cooked, add in the sauce and stir fry until well combined.

Then it's ready to serve! We had some leftover rice to go with it and I also made some soup to counter the spicy oiliness of the stir fry pork.

We layered the pork on top of the rice and this was our meal for the night! I didn't really bother plating it that well since I was streaming at the time and we were getting hungry because it smelled so good!

The pork was nice and tender and it really mixed well with the aromatics. The sauce was a little spicy but it was a good amount of spice. I think the initial recipe actually called for half the amount of pork to go with this amount of sauce but honestly with how spicy it was I think more pork gave a better ratio. Overall it tasted really good and it was so simple to make! I will definitely want to get more of this sauce if I can, or find some way to make it myself.
