I like to use dried cranberries for baking or to add to oatmeal for breakfast; but a small package is outrageous. Since fresh berries are abundant this time of year, I decided to purchase 4 bags and dehydrate them myself.

I washed them thoroughly, let them drain well, and then pulsed them in the food processor to break them up a bit.

They need to be broken in order to dry completely. I layered them onto the trays and set the temperature at 325°F. for 12 hours.

The following morning all the berries were completely dry. I put them into 3 half-pint jars and vacuum sealed them to be used when needed. They will store nicely for a long time. I'm sure I will find a nice recipe to make for a holiday cookie, too.

I had a box of puff pastry in the freezer, a few Granny Smith Apples and decided it was a good day to make a pastry. I didn't take photos of the process, just a couple after baking it.

I broke down and had a small slice even though I'm doing my best to follow a Keto style diet. Hubby enjoyed the rest of it all by himself.

Later that evening, hubby lit a fire for us to enjoy for our movie that night. All in all, it was a good day to do something different.
