Shared a Hearty Meal With The Oldies: Mommy D's Version of "Dinengdeng" with Grilled Milkfish,

One day, Mommy D just asked me to come with her in the Market because she wants to buy ingredients for the dish she wants to make that day. Of course I did go with her. While buying all the ingredients needed, I still have no idea what she's planning to make. All I know is it is a very delicious but healthy kind of dish seeing that she's picking vegetables and the milk fish. If it's that combo, it will for sure a good dish. I'm kinda excited, so when we go back home, she asked me to grill the milk fish. Now this Puzzle me more, but, I know it would taste really good, because you know, it's grilling the fish before cooking it -imagine it, it sounds heavenly.

So here's the ingredients, there's three kinds of vegetable in there, squash, bitter gourd and okra and then the milkfish. That milkfish is really big and fatty guys. I enjoy it's belly so much, lol

Now to the grilling part, I was tasked to do this and unfortunately we don't have a proper grilling stove so we used this one. RIP to it's gas burner. We didn't remove the scale of the fish so it doesn't stick to the griller. And you know, because I used the burner gas, now it doesn't lit that much anymore. It stuck in super low heat level. Aigoooo, very bad move. So don't ever copy this part guys.

Now, the fish doesn't really have to be cooked thoroughly. We really just want to attain that smokey flavors that they're saying. This is already enough actually. This is just righty

Now with the next step, it's actually Mommy D who prepared this and i'm just helping a bit. And we used rice water here, with onion, ginger, salt and some MSG. We'll boil it until the fish is thoroughly cooked.

While we're waiting it to boil, I clean and cut the veggies we need, like this. I also soaked them in water with salt so make sure that some worm inside of it will get killed. I leave it there until it's already time to mix it to the dish

Oh my, why this looks... Bad? Haha, but believe me guys, it taste really really good!

We cooked the fish in high heat for 10 minutes. After that we removed the fish again and put next the vegetables. Mom seasoned it again after putting more water. I mean, the soup taste really good and it's actually a soup dish with fish and veggies, so it should have more water in it.

We'll just cooked the vegetables until they soften and once done we'll move back the fish on top of it. Like this (⁠人⁠ ⁠•͈⁠ᴗ⁠•͈⁠). Now that's more like it!

It's time to eat! Bon appetit ♪⁠┌⁠|⁠∵⁠|⁠┘⁠♪. Ahhhh, I made a dip here for the fish and vegetable, it's just calamansi with fish sauce. You can use lime if you don't have calamansi. This dipping sauce is the hest, seriously! Fish sauce is actually bad for me, but just this once, why not right? It's best to enjoy it with it. UwU. Yum, yum! \⁠(⁠◎⁠o⁠◎⁠)⁠/

Omg, I already end the article without mentioning what dish it is, it is actually a Dinengdeng, it has different kind of vegetables in it, three kind but you can use more like malunggay, squash flowers and string beans. I feel like this will taste amazing too with eggplant. This dish should have bagoong in it, but we can't eat that so we opted for fish sauce nalang. (⁠^⁠.⁠_⁠.⁠^⁠)⁠ノ

Never tried the dinengdeng dish. I usually eat milk fish na sinabawan without it being grilled. That's new to me. Can't imagine the taste. Hehe

Hahaha madali lang talaga sya, mas maganda if sa kalan na de uling mismo gagawin. Worth it naman sya gawin. Ang gana mandin ng lafang.

As far as I know, there are too many fish bones, in fact I only like it if the fish is pressure cooked.
