It’s been a while since I last published a blog post here. Life has been pretty hectic lately — from being just a future educator to now becoming a full-fledged professional teacher (yay!).
I’ve been caught up in the daily hustle of teaching, planning, and grading, but I’m grateful to still have my amazing co-teachers who constantly remind me to take a breather and hang out, even if we’re all buried in paper works.
Currently, classes in our school are still suspended due to the flooding. The area is low-lying and extremely prone to floods, especially with the heavy rains we've been having lately. Even though there are no face-to-face classes, we still need to report to school and hold online sessions using the facilities on the higher floors. Thankfully, we’ve been advised to only report in the mornings and head home by afternoon, a bit of relief, indeed.
So, with a bit of free time on our hands, my co-teachers and I decided to unwind before going home. While scrolling through social media, we stumbled upon a post about a café called Love Tea. Aside from their drinks, ranging from hot and cold coffee, milk teas, and shakes, what really caught our attention was their affordable food menu: chicken wings with rice and fries for only ₱99! As wing lovers, it didn’t take long for us to agree as we had to try it.
We didn’t have trouble finding the place, thanks to the friendly tricycle driver who knew exactly where it was. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised.
The place was aesthetically pleasing with white interiors, soft lighting, fresh greenery, and a clean, cozy atmosphere.
It's air-conditioned, with electric fans to keep the space cool and breezy. Definitely an Instagram-worthy spot! I honestly think the café deserves more attention, though I suppose its location, in a nearby barangay rather than the city proper, makes it a little harder to attract foot traffic.
A friendly staff member greeted us right away and handed us the menu. I went for my go-to: spicy buffalo wings with rice and a dark chocolate drink. My co-teachers picked a mix of flavors, such as teriyaki, buttered garlic, honey garlic, and garlic parmesan. Since we all wanted to try everything, we swapped wings with each other (perks of having food-loving friends!).
The spicy buffalo wings had the perfect kick, just the right amount of heat balanced by a flavorful glaze. It paired perfectly with the rice.
The buttered garlic wings were rich, savory, and had a smooth buttery taste that wasn’t overpowering.
The teriyaki wings, on the other hand, had a nice sweet and salty blend with that classic Japanese flavor twist.
Honestly, each flavor had its own charm!
The fries were a pleasant surprise too, crispy on the outside, soft inside, and not greasy at all. I just wish they came with a dipping sauce or maybe some flavored powder to spice them up a bit more.
As for the drinks, I got a medium-sized dark chocolate milk tea for only ₱49.
It wasn’t too sweet, which I appreciated, and had a subtle bitterness from the dark chocolate, just how I like it. If you're not into overly sweet drinks, this one's a solid pick.
All in all, I spent just ₱148 and walked away full and happy. Thanks to my co-teachers for sharing their wings, I basically got to taste all the flavors on the menu!
Since it was still raining outside, we decided to chill there for a bit. We ended up talking about everything, from work stresses to random life things.
Even just for a short while, it felt great to unwind and not think about the endless pile of papers waiting for us. Being a teacher means the work doesn't stop when you leave school, there are still lessons to prepare, papers to check, and documents to complete. But for that moment, we allowed ourselves to breathe.
Anyway, that’s it for now. I hope I get to write here more often again. Until next time!
