While i travel in Bagan, it was actually quite difficult to find hidden gems food or restaurants. The thing is, this city have so many difficult you can't describe it, really.. It's like a ghost town, a real empty town, with nothing at all.
In fact, i cannot even find a supermarket, for example, to easily get soda, coke, or international brand food. This ghost town was once so bustling, with tourists hard a day to spare.
So, i tour the city on our electric motorbike. I didn't even use gmaps because the reviews might be outdated. This city hasn't been busy since 2020, starting with COVID, but this isn't about COVID.
You can see how quiet this restaurant is from my picture, eventhough the Google Maps review below from 2020 lists it as a favorite among foreign tourists, offer a wide variety of Western dishes with similar flavors.
Like the one i order that time, a whole margherita pizza for 2-3 person, it so absolutely perfect. The cheese melted all the way to the sides of the dough and the tomato sauce looks so beautiful, bright red. Anyone who's had this pizza for the first time will agree with me, right?
I even given extra sauce to enjoy with it. I ate heartily, hungry after a day of searching for familiar food. We'd been looking for non-local food all day because we were a bit bored. But luckily, there was Sharky's Restaurant.
It seems this restaurant is still surviving amidst the crisis of foreign tourists. The kind of restaurant that tourists would really love, right? A variety of drinks and food, so many variety menu, and you can enjoy it at fairly standard prices, i means not too cheap but not too expensive either.
Can a restaurant like this still survive the decline in tourism in Bagan, Myanmar? Because, who knows, maybe I'll be able to return here again in the future? Hopefully.
