Hello friends and food lovers! I hope you're all doing great today 😁

Last week, I spent some time at my parents' house, and when I'm there, I love cooking them delicious meals and introducing them to new flavors!

I made them cookies, muffins, quinoa and mushroom patties, and a brookie.

I'd been wanting to make a brookie for a few months now; I often see recipes like this on social media, and this was the perfect opportunity!

A brookie is a combination of a cookie and a brownie, all in one cake.

It's original, and honestly, it's really delicious when it's baked just right! On the other hand, it's extremely high in calories, so you shouldn't eat it every day 😂

Here's the recipe for 12 large slices 👇

Ingredients

1 - brookie.jpg

For the brownie:

  • 200 grams of dark chocolate;
  • 150 grams of butter;
  • 3 eggs;
  • 150 grams of sugar;
  • 90 grams of flour.

For the cookie dough:

  • 100 grams of butter;
  • 165 grams of brown sugar;
  • 1 egg;
  • 200 grams of flour;
  • 100 grams of chocolate (or chocolate chips);
  • Vanilla extract.

Preparation steps

You have to start by making the brownie. To do this, I started by adding the sugar to a mixing bowl:

Then I added the eggs and whisked them together:

5-brookie.jpg

Next, I melted the 200 grams of dark chocolate with the butter. I melted it in the microwave, but you can also do it in a double boiler. I added the melted chocolate mixture to the mixing bowl:

I mixed everything together and finally added the flour:

Then, I lined a baking dish with parchment paper and poured in the brownie batter.

15-brookie.jpg

Bake it for 10 minutes at 160 degrees Celsius (325 degrees Fahrenheit) using the convection setting.

And while the brownie was baking for those 10 minutes, I made the cookie dough. To begin, I added the brown sugar to a mixing bowl:

16-brookie.jpg
17-brookie.jpg

Then, I added the softened butter and mixed it in with a spatula:

18-brookie.jpg
19-brookie.jpg

I added the egg and vanilla extract, then mixed:

21-brookie.jpg

Next, add the flour and mix:

24-brookie.jpg

Then, the chocolate, chopped into small pieces (or chocolate chips):

26-brookie.jpg
27-brookie.jpg

After 10 minutes of baking, the brownie will have set slightly, just enough to be able to spread the cookie dough on top.

So, add the cookie dough to the brownie. Personally, I added a little fleur de sel to the cookie dough because I love the flavor it gives! But that's optional.

29-brookie.jpg

Finally, bake for 25 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).

31-brookie.jpg

Once the 25 minutes are up, I recommend taking the brookie out of the oven and letting it cool before cutting and enjoying it.

34-brookie.jpg
35-brookie.jpg
36-brookie.jpg

You can eat it warm or cold!

And honestly, the texture is perfect. The brownie (which needs more nuts to be a true brownie) is moist on the bottom and fudgy in the middle, and the cookie dough is perfectly baked—neither too hard nor too soft.

In short, a very good, very indulgent cake! Enjoy in moderation 😁

I hope this little recipe has inspired you to try making a brookie yourself!

See you soon,
Johanna

1 - brookie.jpg

Pour le brownie :

  • 200 grammes de chocolat noir ;
  • 150 grammes de beurre ;
  • 3 oeufs ;
  • 150 grammes de sucre ;
  • 90 grammes de farine.

Pour la pâte à cookie :

  • 100 grammes de beurre ;
  • 165 grammes de cassonade ;
  • 1 oeuf ;
  • 200 grammes de farine ;
  • 100 grammes de chocolat (ou des pépites de chocolat) ;

Johanna

What a delicious and lovely post. I really enjoyed reading that you spent time at your parents’ house cooking tasty treats for them and introducing them to new flavors, because that makes the recipe feel even more special and full of love. The brookie sounds absolutely irresistible; combining a brownie and a cookie into one dessert is such a wonderful idea for anyone who loves sweets. You also explained the process in a very clear and enjoyable way, so it truly makes me want to try it myself. I can imagine the photos must look amazing, especially with the texture you described: the moist and creamy brownie layer underneath and the perfectly baked cookie layer on top. I also really liked the little touch of fleur de sel, because I am sure it adds a delicious contrast of flavor. Thank you for sharing such an indulgent and beautiful recipe; it is clear that you cook with a lot of love. I am sure your family enjoyed this brookie so much!
