Thunderbolts at 1 Utama ~ Real Sushi Experience ~ Night Life Of Malaysia | Trip Diaries #3

in Foodies Bee Hive2 days ago

Hello, pedestrians of Hive. I hope you all are doing well.

Today, I will share a small part of my day in Malaysia that I had last month. I was supposed to share this part of the day then, but things happened so fast I couldn't track what went where, and I visited a lot of places and kind of got overwhelmed when the thought of sharing all those places came by. So, I took "some" time to give a post about it.

The Plan

The day's plan was simple: head toward 1 Utama, window shop, and save enough time to watch a movie with a friend with whom a meeting was long overdue.

The Day of The Trip

The long journey from Mount Kiara to 1 Utama was exhausting, but I had my headset and the music on my phone to keep me company.

Upon reaching the place, I found the stores from which I usually order through certain websites. It looked like a combination of style and lavishness. My hands started to tremble here as I began to overthink about what people would think of me taking pictures of a bunch of mall stores... so this one had the least bit of camera shake :(. We alse went inside an apple store and while it was big an event was going on where they congradulated others... did not understand them so me, my brother, and uncle walked right out without looking back.

I usually buy my shades from this shop, but upon entering it... I quickly realized that I didn't belong there, as I hadn't brought much money with me.

A few minutes later, we went up the mall toward the Cineplex named TGB. Apparently, it's the most famous cinema hall here. We grabbed a few fountain drinks and flavored popcorn here before entering the hall. Honestly, the size of the drinks and popcorn was serendipitous as the employee generously put the toppings on the inner layers through a straw. The Indian and Bangladeshi cinema halls have nothing on this thriving economy's portions. The movies would start in 30 minutes, but no sign of my friend... he was stuck in traffic. 20 minutes into the movie, I found my friend entering the hall, disturbing the environment as he opened the doors that brought in the light slowly shuffled toward me from the top staircase. He brought no extra popcorn, so naturally I shared mine. Sadly, I clicked no pics from here.

I snapped a selfie here because the lighting was sublime... but my face is not... I know I am not that handsome :(.

This mall had an underground area that spanned the same area as the one on the surface, and this is where the posh and nice restaurants were. Obviously... I did not have the budget :(

This Japanese pastry shop had all the goodies I watched in anime and movies, like that bean-jam bun. I didn't try any, as we were headed toward an exit.

This excellent thingy (money exchange) is where we found comparatively lower conversion rates than the rest of the ones present. We converted some money before trying to find a way back home.

This area was near the exit where a bunch of girl products were found. Thankfully, none of the ladies in my family joined us.

Now that I think about it, I should've snapped a few more pictures of the store's amazing environment here, since it was soon to be a memory, and I had enough space on my phone.

Even the exit's route was flashy. Beautifully constructed, the painted walls overhead almost made me feel like a compass in a game.

Near the exit, we found a cute little shop named Mixie with half a dozen employees serving boba with ice cream. Moreover, this thing has caramel mixed with milkshake and topped with boba and ice cream. This thing had good portions and, comparatively, the cost is lower than expected, making it the best dessert/beverage I have had during my stay in Malaysia. The best stuff I had that day.

Walking around here and there made us all hungry, as it was lunchtime. The first stall that I fancied was this small sushi shop. Each of them was about RM2-5, cheap considering these were fresh and were suggested to me by my friend as well. Now, all I needed to find was a good place to sit to eat.

I chose different sushis to see which combination was superior. The ones that had cheese and fried shrimp on the right side and the middle one were the best.

IMG_0965.jpeg

I started with the shrimp, and oh boy, did I enjoy this simple yet elegant dish.

IMG_0966.jpeg

I went for the one with the cheese since I expected it not to be as nice, since it only had 2 ingredients apart from the rice. Surprisingly, it was not too shabby, and I finally went for the one with the fish. It was delightful.

After such a long and eventful day, we were getting tired and were headed toward the exit. We found that we had to exit from the other wing and through the parking lot; that is where the Grab fare would be lowest.

As the day almost ended, I reminisced with my friend about the old stuff while exchanging information about the situation of this country and the one I came from. The people here are straightforward, I must add, very humble, and helpful.

Lastly, we made it out of the mall and were headed toward home when we found that these streets were almost empty. No bustling after 8 pm, it seems. It was then that we planned to stay at a condo in Chinatown after dropping off my little cousin at home to see the real nightlife of the people in Malaysia.
