I've come to understand that the best gift you can give yourself is self-love. Self love is all about showing yourself kindness and care, whether it's a small indulgence or a bigger reward. Like gifting yourself, going on that trip you've wanted or even treating yourself to that meal or snack you've been craving for long.
With that in mind, I said this Valentine, I go spoil myself small (give myself a special treat) as per say "work - chop." Lol.

Being a weekend, I didn't go to work, so the timing was perfect. I woke up later than usual on Saturday morning, but that's expected since I retired late for the night. Moreover, we experienced a heavy downpour the previous night so the weather was cool, perfect for a restful night.
After the usual chores, I got set to prepare the meal for the day - something nice and special - fried plantain and potatoes with stir fried veggie sauce. I won't lie, I've been craving this veggie sauce for quite a while now, and I thought why not prepare it on Valentine's day. Lol.
As I cooked, I found joy in the process, despite the slight stress. The process was accompanied by some soulful tunes. The playlist was perfect – it lifted my spirits and created a peaceful atmosphere - "my heart was just tingling tingling me as if I was about to win a jackpot." Hehehe.
And the outcome, exactly what I had envisioned – a simple yet beautiful meal paired with a refreshing orange drink, tasty in the right proportion. A look at the food, and you'll have no doubt that a lot was put in place in the preparation of this mouth-watering and colorful meal.

To make the moment even more special, I set it up as kinda home picnic on the floor. As I sat down to eat, the music wrapped around me, making the moment delightful and relaxing, with lots of jokes and laughter. Yes I told jokes and laughed, all by myself. Lolz.
As I savored each bite, I couldn't help but celebrate my journey so far. It was a moment of self-encouragement, a reminder that it's absolutely okay to prioritize my own happiness.
The idea behind this solo celebration was to acknowledge that Valentine's Day isn't just about others; it's also a time to love and appreciate myself. So glad I did because it was truly fulfilling.
It's a general knowledge that valentine's day is all about sharing, caring and spreading love, but I believe that dedicating the day to oneself is not selfishness, but a necessary foundation for spreading love to others. The divine command says, "Love thy neighbor as thyself" – it all begins with self-love, or is it not?
I hope this will inspire others to do the same, to prioritize their own happiness and celebrate themselves, regardless of their relationship status.
Remember, your happiness depends solely on you, not anyone else.
Thanks for reading.
