Tree Debris Haul Off, Golf Balls, Peas, Job Prep, Pepper Cages, Cucumber, Hemlock, Blackberries - Sunday

in Homesteading22 hours ago

Yesterday morning all 4 of us loaded up in the car after I hooked up the trailer and headed to my client's house to finish the cleanup of the trees and debris that was left. The boys worked on dragging the branches up the golf cart path while I loaded branches onto the old tent fly then drug it up the path twice.

@stryeyz loaded the trees in the trailer then went to the bottom of the rock wall to tie the rope to the trunk sections. The boys then hauled the sections up the rock wall so I could then load them onto the trailer.

It was a golf ball gold mine! The house is the closest to the course and the trees along the fairway held a cornucopia of balls. By the time we were done there was 111 balls collected which makes about 250 the boys and I have gathered in the past couple of weeks! We have over 1000 in the tub now and I can go scavenge more anytime I want. The Wandermere golf course is quite popular and people like to hook the balls into the trees on that hole. Few if any go tromping in to find them and just drop a new one on the fairway. Many of the balls look to be hit once.

The trailer got filled and this time not too terribly tall. I strapped it down good and tight for the drive back to the farm. It was about an hour and half for us all to get it done. Thankfully the day was cloudy and FAR cooler than the forecast. Once back to the farm we slid everything off the trailer by the big burn pile. I have to say that putting the bed liner on the trailer was one of the better decisions I have made as it has made hauling grain and debris WAY WAY easier.

After devouring food and having a bit of a rest I was out in the garden picking peas yet again. It was not nearly as many as the prior day.

I had worked on organizing my irrigation supplies before the haul off and finished in the afternoon and got them all loaded in the car for the 2 jobs I have today. Irrigation repairs are something I am VERY comfortable with and I was able to schedule both jobs for today. It is what I did for the landscaping company I worked for so feels good to be back at it once again. Specifically getting jobs that are just irrigation repairs.

With the cooler temps I was able to be in the greenhouse without sweating myself dry so got the cages on the peppers. The tomatoes and cucumber plants still need to be tied though.

Our first cucumber was ready to pick despite not being tied up.

@stryeyz found that we had a big stand of poison hemlock growing in the creek so I went down with the shovel and dug it up. I then dragged it to the cul-de-sac and dropped it to dry out and not go to seed hopefully.

FINALLY we have blackberries flowering and growing berries on the plant that I brought from the west side (North Bend specifically) years ago. It has taken about 5 years for it to establish well enough to start to produce.

Today I have a pair of irrigation repair jobs, I need to stop for hose bibs on the way, it is to be HOT and will stay so for at least the next week, then this afternoon I have to dig more garlic as I have some rows left in the ground.

Stay cool my friend, sounds like irrigation jobs are picking up with the hot weather 😅

I just added irrigation repairs to my Thumbtack profile so the direct leads are coming though now. I have to spend some more time in the site getting my services setup to get more leads for the things I can do and enjoy doing.

Yes target your profile to the jobs you like to do and it will stay fun for you!

Thumbtack sounds very good for your business, I'm starting to hear more and more about it locally as well!!👍😀

Yes, Sunday's temperature was blissfully comfortable! I will be hiding in the house much of this week.
