5am on the road to town yesterday morning in the dark. For a holiday weekend morning there was a good bit of traffic in town.
Had 2.5 barrels waiting for me to load which quickly got dumped into the trailer.
Quite the nice sunrise.
I think it was smoke off in the distance.
I eventually got outside to empty the grain which just got dumped in the sheep pen.
The squash are still producing daily.
The the cucumbers had a nice amount and there was even bell peppers ready to pick.
The tomatoes got added to the pile in the kitchen which are ripening nicely.
Washed the last potatoes and got them laid out to dry.
I had to bag the prior ones which I hauled to the studio.
And added to the pile.
The peas had all largely died off and were in the midst of drying out. I spent a good part of the day pulling each plant and scouring them for any pea pods.
Which went to the basket which got filled to the top by the time I was done.
At this point I paused so we could go to eat in Deer Park.
1st Street Diner is great and being Friday was not nearly as busy as on Saturday.
Back home the potatoes had dried enough to bag. The last of them went to the studio where I have 1100 pounds in storage. I think 50 lbs is sold.
Got lucky and managed to finish the peas as the shade was moving up the row. The basket was full to the brim.
They are all laid out on the screen to dry since we will be having days of 100F temps so they should get pretty crispy.
Then the peas row got removed. Fence down and rolled, posts pulled, plastic bunched.
The irrigation lines got coiled and crimped off on the top end so the rest of the rows still get water.
All the pea plants and weeds went to the sheep pen then I piled all the potato plants on and hauled them to the mulch pile.
A nice gust front came through and I looked up to see a number of nice clouds around.
The fence down around the pole garden I got the plastic all folded and set to the side then dealt with the irrigation lines a bit. I have to leave them half on so the marigolds still get some water.
That was a nice sized thunderstorm that moved east to the north of us.
My barn spiders are badass.
Soak which didn't do any good on my shoulder which is fucked this morning.
I slept on my shoulder totally wrong last night and am really hurting today. A spot on the front of my right shoulder is highly tender to the touch. Today will be a lot of trying to work it out and get the pain to go away.
