Food Safety: They say weevils in beans are proteinous

in SciFi Multiverse5 hours ago

I don't know how other people rate food and its quality, but for me, it starts from the scratch — from the lowest things people wave off.

Okay, I've heard many people, including my family members, say that weevils in beans are not harmful but rather add to the protein content of the beans.

As far as I'm concerned, those can ever be nutritional to me, and I hate to eat beans containing them. That’s one of the reasons you can’t find me eating beans in a restaurant, because I just know that most restaurants don’t have the time to pick out the contaminated beans when they’re about to cook. At home, I usually try by all means to buy beans free of weevils, and if by any chance the beans in my house get infected, I take my time to pick out the ones containing weevils and throw them away. In a situation where they’re too many, I still settle down to use a needle to push out the weevils in them.

Well, a lot of people who claim to eat safe food and can’t eat food prepared in a dirty kitchen, eat beans with weevils. It could be that the weevils are harmless, but for me, I can’t do that. I see those insects as inedible things.

Another thing I detest so much in my food is maggots.

I know you’re wondering and probably saying, “People eat maggots in food?” There are many spots in the market I stopped patronizing because I found their fish or meat containing maggots.

I hate that to my bones!

You know, for those traders that sell fish or meat, especially the dried ones, they’re supposed to smoke the fish or meat regularly in order to keep them in good condition, but these people oftentimes forget to do that and end up selling decaying fish or meat. Mehn, if I buy fish in the market and get home to see it decayed, I’ll trace down the trader to pour out my frustration and stop buying fish there. So that’s it — I consider food cooked with decaying meat or fish as an unhealthy meal. The word decaying here may sound so big, but I mean any meat or fish having maggots, even in the smallest sizes, are not fit to be used in cooking a meal that’s to be termed healthy.

Let me stop here

Woah, I am smiling while reading this post. Seems you are not married yet. Okayoo. But for those infested beans with weevils, you can start perboiling the beans just by heating them for ten minutes with enough water and sieving them for the weevils to be removed before you start cooking. Again, by the time you cook your beans for like 30minutes, every weevil must have been killed by the hotness of the water. The contamination that is horrible are those ones which happens during packaging, which is the most sensitive aspect of food processing. This is because it has to do with the finished product. food. Once it is contaminated, at that point it is risky, as anyone who consumes that batch can fall ill or face food poisoning.
