It’s not everyday my family can get together.
Everyone now has their own busy life. Ray now works at the bank, Reno is a teacher and my other cousin Nas is working her way to get into her dream university. So, spending time with them is precious. This year, we haven’t decided to travel yet but there’s talk as to where we would go. From the last few days we had spent time together and caught up with each other's lives.
Today we had dinner at our favorite family restaurant. Obviously, a lot of the things aren’t really on camera. Usually we are all too busy talking to each other and spending time that we forgot about anything picture related. The only thing we’re oddly interested in was this fish in the aquarium. For me and Reno, we love taking care of animals and that’s why we both were drawn to the fish tank.
From the meet, I learned that there’s much more than meets the eye. Everyone deals with the struggle quietly and it’s best to be kind. Somehow this is what makes the difference between people in the past vs now where there's a lot more understanding than people in the past. We also don’t gossip as much as people in the past and quietly live our lives.
The previous day, I spent time with Nas and I finally tried chicken Nanban from Pizza hut. While it’s not that bad, it was a little bit too pricey for the box that they offer. I definitely had better chicken Nanban and it was better priced. But at least, the pizza we ate was pretty decent and was only a $1 pizza.
This year, I want to get a lot closer to my family. I realized that the right family will have your back and even if you have a disagreement, a real one would still have your back. In the past, as much as I was already close with them, we didn’t talk much but nowadays as an adult, we have a lot more topics to talk about. From politics, film to just random conversation.
