Hello everyone, today I'm in the kitchen again. I'll take everyone to make a dessert that is a popular menu that everyone who has eaten it loves because it's a delicious dessert that's easy to eat. The dessert I'm talking about is Mango sticky rice(Kowneaw Mamong), and this is the second time I've made it. The first time, I can't even remember how long it was, and this time I'll take everyone to make mango sticky rice. This recipe is a low-sugar recipe.

Ingredients (Glutinous rice with coconut milk)
  • 700 grams of glutinous rice
  • 500 grams of coconut milk
  • 100 grams of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2-3 pandan leaves (if you have fresh leaves, it's even better)
  • White sesame seeds for topping
  • 1-2 ripe mangoes

Ingredients (Coconut milk for topping)
  • 150 ml of coconut milk
  • 30 grams of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon of cornstarch
  • 1 pandan leaf

Steps to make glutinous rice with coconut milk
  • Soak the glutinous rice in plain water for 1 night or 4-6 hours
  • Rinse the soaked glutinous rice with plain water, then drain the water and steam it. This time we used a steamer. Glutinous rice that has been soaked in water for a long time will not take long to cook, about 15-20 minutes. Turn it over frequently. Observe that the sticky rice is soft and ready to use.

  • While cooking the sticky rice, make the coconut milk to mix with the sticky rice by pouring the coconut milk into a pan, then add sugar, salt, pandan leaves to add fragrance, then stir until the coconut milk separates a little and the sugar dissolves.

  • Strain out the pandan leaves. If anyone has pandan leaves, they can be removed or easily set aside.

  • Then add the cooked sticky rice to the coconut milk, mix until everything is well combined, then set aside for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, preferably 1 hour because the coconut milk will seep into the sticky rice, making it even more delicious.

  • Cover with a lid or plastic wrap. In the meantime, make the coconut milk to pour over.

Steps for making coconut milk to topping
  • Pour the coconut milk into a pot, then add sugar, salt, and stir until the sugar dissolves completely. Then add the cornstarch.

  • Stir continuously, do not stop, do not let it dry and clump together. Observe that the flour starts to dissolve, the resulting sauce will be creamy and thick. When it's done, scoop it into a cup to pour over when serving.

  • When ready, cut the ripe mango to your liking. Scoop the sticky rice and place it on the side with the mango and pour the coconut milk over it. Or serve it separately with the sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Some people use soybeans, depending on your preference. You can eat it with ice cream, which is even more delicious, depending on your preference.
