Hi, lovely people!
I'm excited to share with you today our giniling recipe.
My mother-in-law decided to cook her delicious lunch at home.
And she prepares one of our favorite dishes — the giniling.
If you're unfamiliar with it, this is a classic Filipino ground meat stew.
Our ingredients are:
• ground meat (pork)
• onions (minced)
• garlic (minced)
• vegetables (carrots, green peas, and potatoes)
• salt
• black pepper
• patis (fish sauce) or soy sauce
• other seasonings (like bay leaves, ground black pepper, and chili peppers)
• oil
• water
• ketchup (optional)
Procedure:
We first chopped the ingredients.
After that, my Mom started by heating the oil in a pan.
Next, she added the minced onions and garlic, sautéed until translucent and fragrant.
Then, she added the ground meat to the pan, with the chopped vegetables (carrots and potatoes) cooking until the meat was browned and fully cooked.
She also adds seasonings like salt, pepper, and patis (fish sauce) or soy sauce.
Following that, when the vegetables are tender, she adds water to the pan and brings it to a simmer.
She let it cook for a few minutes, until the flavors meld together.
At the end of cooking, during the last 5-10 minutes, she adds ketchup, green peas, and chili peppers, giving the dish a sweeter and milder heat.
After adjusting the seasonings to her taste preferences, it's now ready to serve!
Just like that, we have our delicious home-cooked meal.
This giniling is a combination of flavors, from the savory ground meat, the sweetness of the ketchup, and the slight kick from the chili peppers.
All in all, it creates a truly delicious dish.
It's true, home-cooked meals like this one were truly satisfying.
I know exactly what went into my food, it's more budget-friendly, and allows us to experiment with different recipes.
If you haven't tried giniling, you can use this procedure, and I'm telling you... You'll enjoy every bite!
Don't forget to pair it with steaming hot rice. 😋
Until our next delicious home-cooked meal...
Thanks for the visit! Have a lovely day. Buh-bye. 👋🥰
