Crispy Tokwa Balls with Savory Garlic Soy Sauce

in Hive Food6 days ago

‎Tokwa or tofu is one of the most affordable ingredients we can cook at home.

‎Today, I decided to turn a simple block of tofu into something extra delicious.

‎I call it crispy tokwa balls coated with a savory garlic soy sauce.

‎It's budget-friendly and perfect to pair with hot steaming rice.

Ingredients:

‎• 3 blocks tofu
‎• 1 egg
‎• 2-3 stalks spring onions
‎• 2 tablespoons soy sauce
‎• 1/2 teaspoon salt
‎• 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
‎• 1/2 cup crispy fry flour
‎• cooking oil

For the sauce:

‎• 2 tablespoons soy sauce
‎• 1 tablespoon sugar
‎• 1 tablespoon fried garlic

Procedure:

‎• First, place the tofu in a bowl and mash it well until it becomes soft and crumbly.

‎• Next, add the chopped spring onions, fried garlic, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. After that, mix in crispy fry flour and one egg. This will help bind everything together so the tokwa balls will hold their shape while frying.

‎• Mix everything thoroughly until the ingredients are well combined.

‎• Once the mixture is ready, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, since you will be using your hands directly to form the tokwa balls. Then, scoop a small portion of the mixture and shape it into small balls one by one.

‎• Heat oil in a pan, and fry the tokwa balls individually until they turn golden brown.

‎• While the tokwa balls were frying, prepare a simple sauce by combining soy sauce, sugar, and fried garlic.

‎• After the tokwa balls were cooked, pour the sauce over them to give them a flavorful finishing touch.

‎And that's it!

‎These crispy tokwa balls are best enjoyed with a bowl of freshly steamed rice.

‎It's perfectly crispy on the outside, but inside is soft, tender, and almost melt-in-your-mouth because of the mashed tofu.

‎It's a blend of savory flavors from the seasonings and garlic.

‎A simple yet satisfying taste. ✨

‎Until my next food blog...

Thanks for the visit! Have a lovely day. Buh-bye. 💗🌸
