What a lovely tribute to your mum, the dessert really does look delicious and I’m sure she’d love it; it’s got everything she likes and, of course, the fruit from the tree she grew herself. The pastafrola pastry is also one of my favourites and goes really well with the flavours of dulce de leche, which we call ‘repostero’ in Argentina, and then there’s the addition of the figs and brevas, which give it a special flavour when combined with the Italian meringue… spectacular!!
I’ll tell you, I used to have a fig tree that bore both kinds of fruit, pink figs, which are even less sweet than the black ones, and I remember when the season came round, we’d go to the tree and just eat them straight off the branch. But this is a brilliant idea; as I was reading, it was as if I could taste those flavours and enjoy them all over again. Thank you so much for your spectacular recipes, José. A big hug!🤗
