Seafood will always have a special place in my heart. If you ask me what kind of food I usually get excited about, seafood is definitely somewhere on top of the list. It can be more expensive compared to other types of food, but somehow I still always feel that it is worth it. Maybe because seafood has this fresh and natural sweetness that makes every bite feel more special.
So for dinner, I finally tried Tian Tian You Yu.

This stall is actually quite hard to miss because the signage is very catchy. It has this bright blue seafood-themed design with a cute cat holding a fish, and I thought it really fits the stall so well. I like this kind of signage because it is not only showing food photos, but it also gives the stall a bit of personality. It makes the place more memorable even before ordering anything.

Since it was my first time eating here, I spent a bit of time looking at the menu. And honestly, I had a hard time choosing what to order because almost everything looked nice LOL. They have fish soup, fried fish soup, seafood soup, braised pig’s trotter, and other dishes that really made me curious. But in the end, I decided to go with the Seafood Soup.
I chose it because I like the combination inside the bowl. Prawns, fish slices, clams, squid, fish cake, and vegetables all swimming in one hot seafood broth. Just thinking about it already made me feel that this was going to be a comforting dinner.

When the bowl arrived, it looked simple but very inviting. The soup had that cloudy and slightly rich look, with prawns sitting on top, slices of fish hiding under the broth, squid, cabbage, and bits of fried garlic giving it more aroma. I also had rice on the side, which I think was a good choice because this kind of broth deserves to be enjoyed with rice.
What made this dish really nice was the broth. I love seafood broth because it has that ocean taste that I really enjoy. It was savory, warm, and flavorful without feeling too heavy. Every spoonful had that seafood sweetness, and that is the kind of taste that makes a simple soup feel satisfying.

The ingredients were also enjoyable. The prawns were nice, the squid had that pleasant bite, and the fish slices were soft. The vegetables added freshness to the soup, while the fish cake gave it a familiar comforting texture. For seafood dishes, freshness is really important because it can easily make or break the whole experience. Luckily, this bowl had the best features of a good seafood soup.
Overall, my first dinner at Tian Tian You Yu was a satisfying one. It was simple, warm, and comforting, but at the same time it still felt exciting because of the seafood variety. I also like that they have many other dishes on the menu, so this first visit already made me curious about what to try next.
I will definitely come back again to try their other dishes.
Bon appetit!
