Even though the weather wasn't looking good today, I still decided to travel all the way to the Springleaf area. Why? Well, I was craving Hong Kong-style food and once that craving starts, it can be quite difficult for me to ignore it LOL.

There is a nice family-run restaurant in the area called Wong Chinese Eating House. This is actually one of those places that I keep returning to whenever I want roasted meat and Hong Kong-style dumplings. The restaurant may look simple, but sometimes these simple places are where you can find the most satisfying food.
And to be honest, there is another reason why I keep coming back here...
Their iced lemon tea!

I don't know why but having a glass of cold iced lemon tea together with roasted meat rice just feels like a perfect combination for me. It's refreshing, especially after walking under Singapore's humid weather.
From Springleaf MRT, I walked for around 10 minutes before reaching the restaurant. That simple walk alone was enough to boost my appetite for lunch LOL.

Actually, I think doing a little physical activity before eating really improves my appetite. It doesn't have to be anything intense. Even a simple walk will do. Somehow, food tastes even better when I'm genuinely hungry!
For my lunch, I went for a plate of roasted meat rice. Looking at the roasted meats hanging behind the glass display already made me excited. Of course, the crispy roasted pork immediately caught my attention.

The roasted pork was definitely my favorite part of the meal. I really enjoyed the contrast of textures. The skin had that satisfying crispiness while the meat remained tender. I also liked the layers of meat and fat because they gave every bite a richer flavor.
Together with the roasted meat, rice, vegetables, and sauce, the entire plate felt simple but very satisfying. This is exactly the kind of lunch that I like. Nothing too fancy or complicated. Just good food that leaves me happy after finishing my plate.
Of course, I also ordered a basket of siu mai!

The siu mai arrived in a bamboo steamer and looked really appetizing. They were plump, meaty, and soft. I think dumplings are always a nice addition to a Hong Kong-style meal because I can enjoy them slowly in between bites of rice and roasted meat.

And then there was the chili sauce. I always like adding a little bit of chili to my roasted meat rice. It gives the meal an extra kick and makes the flavors even more exciting.

What made the entire experience even better was the price. Everything that I ordered for lunch only cost me SGD 14.30!
In the current economy, I think that's a very good deal. If I ordered a similar meal somewhere in the city area, I wouldn't be surprised if the price was almost twice as much.
The surroundings also added something special to my lunch. Springleaf Nature Park is nearby, and the overall area feels calmer compared to the busy city. I like dining in places like this because the peaceful environment allows me to slow down and simply enjoy my food.

This lunch reminded me once again that a satisfying meal doesn't have to be expensive. Sometimes, all I need is crispy roasted pork, some dumplings, a refreshing iced lemon tea, and a calm place to enjoy everything.
Now I'm already excited for the next weekend and my next food adventure!
Bon Appétit!
