In this 462nd edition, I am sharing some of the wildest beers I have seen in quite a while. Buckle up!

Back again with another social pint! Barely social as it was enjoyed at home but brought by company to see the hockey game. I have been a fan of Great Lakes Brewing for as long as I have been obsessed with IPAs. Fine Young Cannibal Chicken is a hazy double IPA with pineapple. That's right. A serious 8% ABV, plenty of hops to battle with, and a pineapple additive to crank up the sweetness. This was a LOT of beer and I would recommend not having too many of these in an evening.

Flash Forward

I discovered Rorschach Brewing only a year or so ago and haven't seen it on the shelves except for a new beer shop. Every beer from this place has been fantastic so no hesitation picking this one up.

I didn't do a great job of focusing this one as it was not the first 8% beer of the night. Flash Forward Hop Saturated Lager is a nice change from ales which now seem to dominate the craft beer market around here. Lagers are a bit of a pain in the ass to brew but this one had all the hop and crisp I love in a west coast IPA, just a nice change.

Would highly recommend!

Nine Lives

Well, if you thought a couple 8% beers were as wild as it could get, this is like that extra push off the cliff. Another heavy hitting Rorschach adventure weighing in at 11.9% ABV! Ever heard of a nonuple dry-hopped octuple IPA? Me neither.

I check the side label primarily to see if the hops are listed and additionally for some sort of brewing story. On this one, I discovered this is their 9th birthday and they are celebrating with collaboration brews with friends. 8 different hops made this a slow sipper as there was probably a half an IPA in each gulp. Hop saturation indeed!

If you want to dive head first into some of the most progressive and contemporary breweries, just look at the list of collaborators on the third panel. Listed each with the hop addition they contributed.

I am pretty sure I will never have another beer like this in my life.

Double seal of approval for the first time ever!

Back to Brewing!

Not too much brewing going on but we did pull 5 kegs of Session NEIPA from the fermenters this week. Transfer and carbonate tomorrow and I will have a whole new batch to see how close to perfection we have this time!

Cheers to all thos wild brews!.

Would you sample these wild beers?

Sort:

I would sample all of them except the pineapple one! It's not for me!

Troo. Though it just adds a touch of sweetness to a strong asss beer.

SO DO YOU

tee hee heeeeheeheeeue

Pineapple beer.. hmmph. must be for Swingers

SAILOR!

I've never gone beyond triple-hopped brews myself. Sounds a bit too much, honestly :)

Yes over the top sport hopped silliness. Apparently that is what it takes to stand out in a whole region of hop heads.

Wow! The colour of that Nine Lives looks like you could eat it with a spoon. Sipping beer indeed!

Ya! Imagine the taste of 9 hops additions and 11%! So sweet and bold it almost didn’t taste that strong. Wild collab.
