Digging through Bitcoin cryptography

Hashing and other math tricks

Now I‘m beginning to understand why they call it cryptocurrency! 😜 Assignment for Bitcoin Talents this week is a technical deep dive. Currently working on different wallet types (random vs HD) and the generating of seed phrases.

I guess that's why it's called crypto.
Like in Dan Brown's "Digital Fortress".
If you haven't read this book, I highly recommend it. 😊

Have read quite some Dan Brown in former times. That one though…no. Comes onto the list „to-read“ 🙋🏼‍♂️👍🏻

Elliptic curve signatures are important for account security but they don´t make Bitcoin "crypto". Paypal or Bank accounts are also cryptographically secured. The "crypto" in Cryptocurrency originally comes from the privacy/anonymity aspect via obfuscation and zero knowledge cryptography that we should not forget. These days "crypto" refers to the cryptographically secured consensus in most "cryptos", but even here some cryptos don't work with crypto, like our hive chain. It has no Merkle trees.

Interesting aspect. 👍🏻 Thanks for clarifying.
