We got you, Wendys

in #proofofbrainyesterday

I am adding Wendy's to my Watch List.

I noticed this yesterday and maybe I should have bought some, but some research had to be done first. I eat at Wendy's, I also worked there once when I was in high school. It was after working at McDonalds and I felt that the quality of the food was much better.

Not much has changed though in the past 20 years and that might be one reason the brand has been stagnant. If we zoom out and look at the chart going back 5 years we can see the decline.

All time though it still seems to be increasing, and there are good reasons to think Wendy's may last.

Wendy’s Appoints Steve Cirulis as New CFO and CSO

image.png

"..industry veteran Steve Cirulis will become Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, succeeding Ken Cook, who has served as CFO since 2024 and will remain in an advisory role through July to ensure a smooth transition."

With some new leadership we might see some positive changes, and hopefully increased valuations.

"A large 1,000-unit China development agreement creates a multi-year franchise growth runway that diversifies revenue beyond the U.S. market. As a franchised rollout, it should generate scalable royalty and fee income with limited company capex, supporting durable systemwide sales expansion and margin accretion."

Translated: "This personnel change at Wendy's comes amid four consecutive quarters of negative growth, particularly with same-store sales declining by 7.8% in the first three months of 2026. According to Reuters, Wendy's stock has lost approximately 13% of its market capitalization since January of this year."

I found this blog post about the new store in Shanghai.

So I will keep my eye on the price of Wendy's and I am thinking about buying some.

Do you think Wendy's will turn things around?

@Darkflame

Sort:

Wendy's owns Tim Horton's don't they?
The whole fast food market has been going down hill as inflation forcing most customers to settle for home packed peanut butter sandwiches. The quality of the meals is not as good as it used to be. Until they can are able to address these I wouldn't hold much hope for this stock.

I also just posted about $WENs rise today. With the new Management in Place it indeed could become a Turnaround Story.
