Magandang buhay💛
A bright Friday morning in DD, and before we'd get buzzy with the many things yet undone, a little story of how we first met the so-called Korean Fanfare ice cream, which is said to have been introduced in 1983.
We were in the capital on the 9th, and after checking in, the hubby went out to get us dinner. We usually do that, especially when we are tired from the drive, or it is raining. And he loves buying from the Korean restaurant a few blocks from the guesthouse. He came back with sushi, spicy pork with noodles, some chicken fillets (for the LilGuy), and a weird-looking cone of ice cream, which he said he bought from the Korean mart. We placed it in the freezer while we ate.
We were to have a siesta when the hubby found out the NBA Finals (Game 2) was live, so we decided to give it a watch. It had been ages since we sat on one (I remember mentioning that previously).

Sometime during the game, he remembered the ice cream and thought we would have it. Sure! Why not? But let me take its photos first before you bite on it, lol!

Hmmm, it looks yummy-licious! But somehow I wasn't that excited about it, so I let him enjoy the first half. I did have a few bites of the seemingly tall pile of cream.

And the rest was all for me, including the cone. Well, he took a few bites of it too.😅

Meanwhile, our lil boy, who was exhausted from the trip, was already dozing off, turning my tummy into his pillow. He loves doing that, even at home.

Anyway, I finished the chocolate pangpare (apparently, that's how Koreans pronounce 'fanfare') ice cream.
My verdict?
Well, the cream was smooth and soft, light and not sweet (it tasted like it almost had no sugar, which is a change from the usual ice cream we have had). In fact, I didn't taste any chocolatey flavor. It's more milky. The wafer cone is a little crispy and mildly salted.
Overall, it was quite good.
Would I eat one again?
Maybe, although it's not something I would be looking forward to having anytime soon. Being a sweet tooth, I still prefer the heavy, sugary ones.
