There's a first for everything.
They are tasty and I encourage you give it a try should the opportunity present itself.
My grandmother remembers back in the old country as a young gal, she'd help hand out a pair of these leaf wrapped lunches to each field worker when Dragon Boat Festival came around.
These Zongzi are actually available locally all year round since there is a significant population of ethnic Chinese living in the Greater Vancouver region.
I was going to post a few pictures of my June blooms but this post would be too long.
Since you are a fine balcony gardener I will post this wild Irish Poppy that thrived at the side of my home. I don't know where it came from but I like it.

i use to have a garden full of poppies back in 2015-2016 , they always atracted a lot of bumble bees in the garden .
These Irisch popies are called fake poppies in Dutch https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papaver_cambricum .
I wasn't aware of the large Chinese community in Canada, i know certain cities in the states have chinatowns . We have people from all over the world here in Holland, and still i have never seen those before , and i do love Chinese food :)

Interesting, I'd like to support my local Bee Hive keeper by having some flowers favorable to bees. The last few years were noticeably lower bee counts.
You know a good Chinese restaurant when you often see a restaurant crowded with Chinese customers. Vancouver has been a multicultural mosaic, having enclaves of distinct ethnic groups. It's the closest thing to travel except you never have to leave the country.
