Worldwide Cooking Contest Live: Entry #2's Pinoy Ginisang Upo

in #hiveph6 days ago

Greetings Hive family and food lovers everywhere! Food has this incredible power to bridge worlds, sparking connections across borders just like Hive connects creators globally. That's exactly what inspired me to launch my very first Worldwide Cooking Contest on my YouTube channel which I share with you in my previous post here

As promised, Hive foodies, here's the second entry in our Worldwide Cooking Contest! With 10 amazing submissions total, each bursting with unique creativity, effort, and flavor, I'm sharing them one by one so you can savor every detail.

Entry Number 2

This video showcases the preparation of Ginisang Upo with Pork Giniling, garlic, and onions. The soft texture of the upo pairs perfectly with the savory ground pork, resulting in a light yet flavorful dish. Simple ingredients come together in this easy recipe, making it a great option for a quick and healthy home-cooked meal.

I just finished watching this entry and honestly, my kitchen smells like sautéed garlic in my imagination already! There’s something so nostalgic about a classic Filipino dish like "Ginisang Upo with Pork Giniling" (Sautéed Bottle Gourd with Ground Pork), especially when it's prepared with this much heart.

Guys, you know those days when you just want a meal that feels like a warm hug from your lola? This is exactly that vibe. Boss JA brings such a great energy to the screen, calling everyone "bossing" while whipping up a literal masterpiece out of humble, everyday ingredients.

The beauty of this recipe lies in the layers of flavor he builds right from the start. He kicks things off with the classic sauté of oil, garlic, onions, and tomatoes. Once those aromatics are sizzling, in goes the ground pork, seasoned heavily with pepper because, as he rightly points out, that’s where the real flavor is. But here is the real pro-tip I picked up from the video: instead of rushing to add water, he lets the upo (bottle gourd) sit and release its own natural juices. This "sariling katas" is the secret to a rich, sweet broth that you just can't get from a tap. He eventually adds a bit more water, a pork cube for depth, and some patis to balance the savory notes before letting it all simmer to perfection.

It really makes me appreciate the global community we have here on the Hive blockchain. Seeing authentic, home-style cooking shared directly from a creator's kitchen—whether they are based in Switzerland or the Philippines—is exactly what Web3 is all about. It’s not just about a recipe; it’s about sharing a piece of culture and supporting each other's passions without any corporate filters. This dish is budget-friendly, incredibly fast to make, and looks absolutely mouth-watering by the time he announces "kainan na" (it's time to eat).

So, what do you guys think? Is this the winning entry for the contest? I’m definitely inspired to try this "natural juice" method next time I have some gourd in the fridge. If you loved the video as much as I did, don’t forget to show Boss JA some love with an upvote or a comment! Let’s keep the support flowing for our amazing global creators. Do you prefer your upo with pork giniling, or are you a fan of adding shrimp or even sardines instead? Let’s chat in the comments!

Meanwhile, I'm throwing out a big invite to all you YouTube watchers: jump over to Hive! If you dig real talk, community vibes, and content that's all human-powered, Hive's your spot. Share your stories, connect with creators who get it, and let's build something epic together.
