‎The Taste of Home: Why Pounded Yam Will Always Be My Favorite Food

in Indiaunited21 days ago

‎Hello Hives,

‎Everyone has that one food that brings back special memories, and for me, that food is pounded yam. While I enjoy many different meals, pounded yam holds a unique place in my heart because it is more than just food but it is a reminder of my childhood, family, and some of the happiest moments of my life.

‎One of the reasons I love pounded yam so much is that it is a rich source of carbohydrates, which provides the body with energy. It is a satisfying meal that keeps you full and strong, especially after a long day of physical activity. The smooth texture and delicious taste make it a meal I never get tired of eating.

‎However, what truly makes pounded yam special to me is the memories attached to it. I grew up in a village where farming and hunting were part of our everyday lives. My family consisted mainly of farmers and hunters, so spending time on the farm was a normal part of my childhood.

‎I still remember those days when we would head to the farm early in the morning. After hours of working under the sun, we would sometimes go hunting for grass cutters around the farm. Once we were done, we would harvest fresh yams and prepare pounded yam right there in the open. Looking back now, those moments were some of the best experiences of my childhood.

‎There was something different about eating pounded yam on the farm. Maybe it was the fresh air, the natural surroundings, or the fact that we had worked hard before eating. Whatever the reason, the taste was always more enjoyable than when the same meal was prepared at home. Every bite felt rewarding and memorable.

‎In fact, there were times when we deliberately planned trips to the farm because we knew we would get the chance to enjoy freshly prepared pounded yam together. Those gatherings created strong bonds among family members and friends. We shared stories, laughed together, and enjoyed each other's company while eating.

‎Today, whenever I eat pounded yam, those memories come rushing back. It reminds me of my roots, my family, and the simple joys of village life. That is why pounded yam is not just my favorite food, but it is a symbol of home, happiness, and unforgettable childhood memories.

Pounded yam.... Are you from Benue State?

They're known for cultivating massive yams every year. They have assorted types of yams.

You choice of food is okay, but you have got to get your self a very strong yam pounding blender to get the smoothest of pounded yam...😂👍

No, I'm from kwara and we do also cultivate yams here too. I don't even need a strong blender, coz my hand is strong enough to pound the yam 😆

Ok.. oooh, as a guy if you have the time and the determinations to keep pounding it by yourself every day.

Not to worry your wife to be with the morta and pistle all the time pounding.

Pounding yam to get it very smooth is not an easy job. Take care!

Thanks

You are welcome 🤗😁, have a great day!
