Time to Fix Myself, No More Excuses!

Wow, what a topic! I’ve been talking about this at home and at work for the past two months, and if you ask my wife, she’ll probably say we’ve been discussing this since the first day of our marriage and that topic is my fitness and health.

I found this topic on the IndiaUnited community, and I think all of you should write about it too. It’ll be fun and could really work as motivation for many!

Yes, I’ve always been a fan of a healthy lifestyle and fitness. But staying fit isn’t as easy as it sounds. In today’s lifestyle, keeping your body healthy and in shape is a real challenge.

A quick recap: I started working out at home when I was 16, and then joined a gym at 18. I wasn’t very consistent, though, so I never built a bodybuilder-type physique which I never aimed for anyway. I just wanted to be fit, not muscular.

Later, when I started working, it became a sitting job. With hardly any activity, I started gaining weight. Still, I gathered some motivation and joined the gym again not regularly, but going even twice a week felt enough back then. Slowly, things got worse I started feeling too tired after work to even think about going to the gym.

In 2015, when I got really frustrated with my health and weight, my elder brother told me about the keto diet. And believe me, I lost 14 kg in just two months with keto! It felt like a miracle. After that, I started thinking that losing weight is easy like a joke, just a matter of willpower. That overconfidence led to where I am now my weight has crossed 100+ kg, and I’m really upset about my body and health. I’m seriously trying to start dieting again as soon as possible.

Since marriage, I haven’t been to the gym or followed any proper diet. It’s been 6 years of just talking about it “I’ll do this,” “I’ll start that” but I never actually did anything.

Right now, I’m not fit at all. Even a little physical activity makes me tired, I get short of breath, sitting and standing is difficult, and running feels like a dream. My clothes, especially formal pants, have become so tight that it’s hard to move around. So I have two options: either buy new clothes or fix myself. Honestly, I’m really worried how can I continue living like this?

Thanks to my elder brother again, who reminded me about the keto diet. I feel confident that if I follow it again, I’ll get back in shape in two months just like before. Although I’m not 100% sure it’ll work the same way, I’m determined to give it a serious try. I’ve decided to start my diet from 6th August. I’ve done keto before, so I know what to expect and back then, my father used to cook all my meals. Let’s see if it’ll be him again or my wife this time. Whoever it is, I just want to stay committed for 2 full months.

Keto diet is not easy at all. I’m a foodie, and giving up so many things to stick with low carbs and high fat is a big deal. My main options are eggs and meat. But one good thing about keto is even with these foods, you don’t feel weak. You stay strong and feel active.

This time, I’ve thought of sharing my journey on YouTube. I’m going to talk to my brother in the next couple of days about this. I plan to record and post daily updates to help others who are on the same path.

Before 6th August, I want to enjoy all my favorite foods because once the diet starts, there’s no turning back. So from next week, it’s going to be pizza, burgers, momos and more. But from 6th August, that’s it no more.

I hope everything goes as planned, and I’ll keep sharing my progress through my posts here.
Wishing you all health and fitness too!
