What dose being fit mean to you and when you hear it what comes to your mind let’s find out, being fit simply means being physically strong to a lot of people but we will break it down here.
Fitness means being in good health with the help of regular exercise which helps in building the muscles and blood circulation.
Healthy this can be described as the state of good general health physically, mentally and psychologically.
Personally, I have plans of being fit and healthy, because health they say is wealth and only a healthy man or woman can meet up with the demands of life. Our daily activities require a lot of energy from us and someone who is not physically fit cannot handle the pressure and stress well without breaking down.
Keeping fit and being healthy is really underrated in our present generation and it has made the mortality rate to be on the high side. There are so many things to do to keep fit and we would learn about them.
In a typical African home where I grew up in with educated parents and mom who studied nutrition and worked as a dietitian for so many years, we always had balanced diet and proper meal planning to maintain good health. Eating at the right time and the right proportion has always been very important and must be followed. Exercise like football, riding a bicycle and taking walks were encouraged to keep the body fit and healthy.
Steps I’m taking to archive being fit and healthy.
Proper dieting comprises eating balanced diet and healthy food, for example vegetables, meat, fish and eggs that help build up the body and increase proper development.
Sleeping regularly sleeping gives the body ample time to relax from the stress of the day and bounce back stronger, it is required to get 8 hours of sleep everyday to be fully active the next day and remain healthy dose who battle with sleeping disorder struggle to perform their daily activities.
Adequate physical exercise is good for the health; it helps release tension in the muscles and strengthens the body. I got to learn that physical exercise is really underrated my reasons for saying this is because I had this friend who got down with malaria 3+ and he was still walking around and feeling very strong while my brother who is the same age as him has the same thing about two months back and he was admitted for 3 days at the hospital. The difference between the two of them is that one was always exercising while the other was not doing any form of physical activity, so he broke down as soon as he got sick and the other who performed physical activities was still strong despite the acute malaria. So physical exercise is very important and should be a major part of our life.
Proper stress management involves proper planning of my daily activities to ensure we achieve everything in ample time and setting our tasks according to their importance and this will help me work smarter and save time to avoid putting too much pressure on the body.
Hydration taking in a lot of water and fluids keeps the body hydrated and keeps the skin glowing and healthy, it also aids in digestion.
Avoid processed fat in food and in drinks as they are very dangerous to our health and can lead to hypertension.
Abstain from intake of harmful substances that are harmful to the body like drugs, weed and alcohol. They damage the kidney and the lungs leading to death most of the time if there is no remedy to it.
There is so much to do to keep fit and healthy and these are the few I’m practicing out of many others. Good health is very expensive so let’s endeavor to pay more attention to our health.
