A STUDENT’S STRUGGLE WITH HEALTHY EATING

"People have always told me that I don't eat well, but then I only ended up realizing that I've grown accustomed to starving myself. However, someone once told me that all that would change when I gained admission to the university. Well, I still tried to think that it wasn't going to change until I became a student for real, hehe. It's been over a month since I came to the university, and my life has changed a lot, but for this post, I'll just focus on how my eating habits have been.

At first, when I came, I ate good meals quite often, but after a week, the whole thing changed drastically - I was struggling with the temptation of not using all my money for food because I became more food inclined. However, I still had some days when I didn't eat well. Luckily for me, I came to a hostel where my roommates literally love food! So eating became something I found myself enjoying lately.

Nowadays, I value satisfying some of my cravings, unlike usual. I remember there was a day I had to go out at night to get meat because that was what I wanted to eat. Being a student, we find it so hard to cook with a lot of protein because it is just too expensive, so that was one of the reasons why I had that craving for meat. I didn't even care if it was already late; all that I wanted to know was that the person who sells beef was around. Too bad I didn't take a picture of the beef I bought because I was just concerned about eating it immediately, lol.

Just today, we went out to preach the gospel of Christ to those who cared to listen, and after that, my brother saw how I was looking and asked what was wrong. Literally, I was looking fine, but he always likes asking me that question, so I just told him I was fine. The weather was a bit cloudy, so I couldn't head home, and we all had to wait somewhere to see if the rain would get worse. But after waiting for some minutes, it stopped completely, and we all decided to go home. But my roommate and I wanted to get bread from the bakery, so I told my brother I was going to get something, and he said he was going to come with us.

To my greatest surprise, my brother paid for the bread and even got my roommate and me vegetable rolls too. I was so happy because a vegetable roll was part of the things I have cravings for whenever I visit the bakery. After that, we made our payments and headed home. I've finished eating the vegetable roll, but right now, I'm still feeling hungry, and I'm already thinking of what next to eat.

Food is good, and I need to eat more, especially now that I'm a student, but then with the prices of things, I keep finding myself not eating as much as I should. However, I'm going to work harder to give myself food when necessary so I can look more healthy and also feel healthier.

Dear, it's because you are expending a lot of your energy and your body wants to be constantly refilled.

Between classes, studying, writing on Hive, chatting in the city, and everything else we might know that you do every day, a lot of energy is expended and your body is right to ask for a refill at all times.

When you eat, try to add as much protein as possible, it will make you feel full longer.

Being a student isn't easy at all cause you have a lot of things to attend to and you need your health to do that, you have to eat dear, try as much as you can to eat whenever you feel hungry.

My eating habits is same since my childhood and I think it's healthy for me. But it seems you are turning into a food monster. I think in your case you can focus more on your homemade food otherwise you may get sick.

Nah, I only crave for the food but I hardly eat them actually 🤣. Well I’m trying the best I can to not over feed myself and also not to under eat too.

Outside the home, we have to adjust food habits ☺️
