Fleeting Moments in Flavor and Hue | Amateur foodie photos

There's something warm and lovely about good meals that shared together. One of my favorite parts of live is having a nice talk over a delicious cuisines. Therefore, in between juggling the tasks and duty as a working mom, I always try to spare time for eating out, to just sit on a cozy cafè or beautiful restaurant and enjoy the vibe, and if I was lucky, I got chance to enjoy a delicious treats as well.

Greetings Hive worlds and blockchain photographers! It's me Iris from East Java, Indonesia. I am still far away to call myself as a photographer, but I do enjoy taking photos and look at beautiful photos and the story behind them. That's the main reason I join @photographylover, to read some wonderful entries while pleasing my eyes. So today, I want to share about my amateur bites and treats shots that I've taken in my limited food adventure.

So both me and my husband are not fond of taking selfies. Most of the time we just forgot to capture our moments together in photographs. So most of our memories were captured in beautifully plated dishes that served that day. Dishes that worth to remember and catch our eyes.

Those plate of simple smooky meat and condiments were taken after we took an impromptu morning stroll. We found this little joint who served roasted meats for breakfast. Being meat lovers, both of us couldn't stand the smooky scents of fresh roasted beef and decided to stop by. The meal was okay, though the sauce just so-so but we enjoyed the unplanned stop quiet okay.

Perhaps this dish looks familiar for some of you, and yes this is the infamous IKEA's meat ball. It was just recently we had IKEA store in Surabaya, and by recent I mean is on 2022 though 😁. But I just had a chance to try this menu this year. My husband like it a lot, although for me it was just okay. But I can understand why people like it, and also the combination with its signature cranberry sauce was very unique indeed.

Now this is the meal that I always crave once in a while. This is actually a Balinese dish that called 'bigul' shortened of 'babi guling' or roasted pig. If you visit Bali Island, please do try this dish. The crackling pork skin and soft meat, combines with veggies in traditional spices and herbs create a very unique taste that for me just simply awesome. It was served with a warm and soft white rice and fresh 'sambal' made of chilly and onion.

And this is my husband's comfort food. It a Malaysian cuisine that called 'Nasi Banjer' or flooded rice in literal translation. The concept is a warm fluffy simple egg fried rice topped with a thick broth of saute chicken and veggies. Really nice to eat on a rainy day or when your stomach is carving for something warm and light.

This was taken when I visited English tea room inspired cafè near my husband home at Malang. They served modern coffee and traditional English tea cake, such as canelles, scones, and financiers. I tried the lavender scones and coffee caramel canelle. It was legit and bold, had to pair them with a hot black coffee actually, but sugarless latte also will do. I like the monochromatic visual of the menu though.

This was taken on our short rainy date. It was simple meal but I like the color and still remember my fluttering heart while enjoying those simple rice dish. Traditionally we called it 'nasi campur' or literally translated as mixed rice, because that's how you eat this menu, by taking as much as condiments that you want. The topping is crispy spinach, really interesting to taste.

I'm still learning how to understand angle and composition in photos, but for me the most important aspects of food photographs is how to make people curious about the taste or even can taste the meal in their mouth once they look at the photos. As I was saying before, I am an amateur and still long way to go, so my photos was like a compilation of sweet memories than a portfolio. However, are they make you curious enough, my friend? Just give me a penny of your thoughts in the comments, would you?

See you around!

A cozy restaurant brings us joy, knowing the cuisine we are to be served is what we want to eat. Very amazing pictures.

Thank you for your kind words! I'm still learning to take good photos. I wish you a great day my friend 😁
