Tashkent City Park at Night: Dancing Fountains, Romance & Smoky Dessert ๐ŸŒƒ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Hey, Hive! hello from Thailand, but tonight โ€” Tashkent, Uzbekistan ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฟ
September 15, 2025, 7:30 PM

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ How we stumbled into a light show

Mom and I just wanted a โ€œquick walkโ€ โ€” and ended up in Tashkent City Park, which turns into Central Asiaโ€™s mini-Vegas after dark.
The park is brand new, right in the heart of the city. Huge plazas, fountains, green lawns, bike lanes, chill zones. Looks like a 3D render โ€” but itโ€™s real.

๐ŸŽถ Fountains that dance to the beat

  • Colored jets syncing with pop hits โ€” Mom gasped every 30 seconds.
  • Lights + water + rhythm = free show better than any concert.
  • Insta-spots everywhere โ€” I snapped 50+ pics.

Mom: โ€œThis is like a movie!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜

๐Ÿ’ Romance on a bench

We keep walking โ€” and bam! A guy on one knee proposing (or first date?).

  • Girl in shock, ring in hand.
  • Mom & me: โ€œDonโ€™t interrupt โ€” but snap it!โ€ ๐Ÿ“ธ
  • Real-life moment โ€” the best thing travel gives you.

๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท Turkish dinner with wow-factor

We pop into a Turkish cafรฉ-restaurant โ€” interior ๐Ÿ”ฅ, dishes ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ.
Next table: waiter brings a dessert in a bowl of thick smoke.

  • Dry ice? Magic? โ€” no idea, but effect = 100/10.
  • I, of course, photographed it. Girls squealed, Mom loved it.

Tashkent City Park at night is a must-visit if youโ€™re in town.
Bring your mom, camera, and an empty stomach.

P.S. Tomorrow โ€” metro with space-age station designs. Follow so you donโ€™t miss it! ๐Ÿš‡โœจ

This is more a question on the camera side. I remember you were getting into photography and I see you now have a few lenses. Which focal length is your favourite? I see you mostly use zooms

Hi
I take 90% of my photos with the Sony FE 20-70mm F:4Gโ€”it's my first lens, but I don't think it's the best. The 50mm is what I use the most, so I think I need to upgrade this year).

I've seen a lot of talks online about a similar lens, I think 24 - 70.

I've always been more of a prime person due to the filmmaking side. More aperture control and more unique characteristcs. Never been a fan of zooms due to the higher aperture.

Are you mostly shooting at 50mm for the portraits?

No, I photograph everything, and I especially like to use the Sony FE 70-200mm F: 2.8 GM OSS II. It's inconvenient in the city, but great for nature. Yes, you're right. The 24-70 is advertised everywhereโ€”I'd like to try it. And yes, a zoom lens might not be as good, but it's very convenient when you're photographing life, not studio portraits. How long have you been photographing?
!BEER

I've been doing it for almost a decade now. Though I was always more inspired by film stock and cinema. I need to upgrade the camera at the moment, and I'm really looking at something like the FX30 (FX3 if some things pick up a bit faster). I wouldn't choose APS-C for photography but for video it's not much different to the sensors Hollywood uses at S35.

studio portraits

My mightmare.

I carry about multiple lenses when I'm outside but each lens is different somehow. And it's very useful if I do shoot video. Either vintage glass or a focal length and totally different type of bokeh. I've been wanting to use my prime 85mm 1.8 more lately now that the artificial lights turn on a bit earlier with the shorter daylight hours.

Oh yeah, maybe I'll get around to shooting videos someday too. I've only been learning photography for a year and a half now, and I'm even afraid to dive into something as complex as video. All these lenses and cameras cost a ton of money, and many people shoot with their phones, but I love shooting with a camera, but I still have a lot to learn.
Is this your hobby, or can you make money from it? For me, it's a hobby, and I want to share it with someone.

It started off as a hobby, then I worked in the UK film industry in camera and lighting, then I ended up here in Armenia and recently started a filmmaking/photo business here. I love doing it so it'll always be a hobby of mine.

The good thing is you got a Sony and they genuinely are great hybrids. You won't need to learn a lot regarding using the camera, just shoot in SLOG3 and learn how to colour grade with Davinci Resolve. Very easy stuff and very fun once you get a bit more familiar with Davinci.

You're going through the natural progression of a hybrid owner, it's inevitable you end up finding cinematic ways to capture the family, then it's a whole new addiction haha

Nice to meet you! If I have any questions about the video, now I know who to ask or get advice from.
