Sweet Bet at Ai-Cha 🍦

Ai-Cha is one of those dessert chains you see all over Thailand — bright, simple, and always busy. They’re known for soft serve ice cream, bubble tea, and all kinds of colorful sweet drinks.

The idea is straightforward: quick, affordable treats you can grab without thinking twice. Prices usually start around 15–30 baht, which makes it dangerously easy to stop “just for a minute”… and walk away with something sweet in your hand.

The menu is a mix of ice cream, milk teas, fruit teas, and all sorts of topping combinations. It’s definitely more of a fun, street-style dessert spot than anything premium — but honestly, in this heat, that’s exactly what you need.

A Lost Bet

Today I lost a bet to my son.

So late in the evening, we found ourselves walking to Ai-Cha for ice cream. No negotiations — a deal is a deal.

Kids and ice cream… that’s a universal story. And mine is no exception.

A Thought About the Past

Standing there, watching him choose flavors, I caught myself thinking how different things used to be.

When I was a kid, ice cream wasn’t something you could get anytime. It was delivered to the store maybe once a week, and there was always a line. You had to wait. You had to want it.

And the taste… I still remember it.

Real cream, simple ingredients, no long shelf life — maybe 7 days at best. What we have now is a completely different world. More choice, more colors, more convenience… but something changed along the way.

Kids today probably don’t even realize how different that “real” ice cream tasted.

Back to Reality

To be fair, the ice cream at Ai-Cha is actually pretty good — smooth, balanced, easy to enjoy.

But let’s be honest with ourselves — it’s not exactly made from farm-fresh cream 😄
Still, try explaining that to a kid who’s happily holding a cone.

And honestly… maybe you don’t need to.

Simple Ending

My wife and son were more than happy to end the day with ice cream in hand.

I passed this time.

The only thing I regret — I had just my phone with me. Shooting in the evening with it is always a bit of a gamble, and I know I could’ve done much better with my camera.

But maybe that’s not the point.

Sometimes it’s just about the moment.

I haven't had ice cream in over 15 years I think. Great to see some pictures of one.

Don't people in hot countries like ice cream?
