Freestyling with Food

in Discovery-it2 days ago

Food photography is its own art, and I don't have much in the way of experience with it. My camera has a few macro photography functions, so I decided to turn the lens on the textural and colourful world of food.

I took many photographs that evening, so I curated the ones that seemed visually interesting to me. They were all taken with microscope function on.

Macro photography requires up close interaction with each object, and this could mean risky moves in a sizzling kitchen.

Turbulence and chaos. The complex geometry of cooking soup.

It may not look like it, but this actually turned out to be a lot of work. Every food item required its own settings and techniques because of the differences in colours, textures, shapes, etc. The method and technical settings that worked for one did not necessarily transfer to the next. I have a greater appreciation for those who take the time to carefully craft a culinary narrative in their food reviews.

Food photography is a wonderful way to make photographs.

It's a great way to practice and learn different camera skills and techniques.

Your photos are so detailed and vibrant! Luv it 💓

Thank you! I was able to control the lighting to a certain extent, so this helped in capturing the nice colours.

It's a bit of a novel reality for me to see macro photography applied to foods at this level. Looks so vibrant with the difference of textures/shapes between one food item to another.

This was a lot of fun playing with the different camera settings to get the right shot. The best part is that I got rewarded with a nice soup at the end.

You know what? I love macro photos. I have to try my hand at it. It requires practice and technique, and in many of the ones I see, the textures are great. You've managed to capture them. I love fruit and vegetables... try strawberries!

It's great to explore the macro photography world and see things from a new perspective. I don't have a strawberry at the moment, but I have a pomegranate, so that might give me some interesting and delicious shots 😄

Pomegranates are interesting, the inside is amazing!

Very cool shots! The close-up details make the food look like abstract art.

Thank you! This was a fun and delicious project :)
