Greetings, dear @drinklovers. Thanks to the recent rains, my acerola trees (Malpighia emerginata), also known as acerola cherries, are bearing fruit. This fruit is very tasty and has high levels of vitamin C, ideal for boosting the immune system, so I eat it daily, either raw or in juice. However, I want to make a recipe that requires a flavorful and colorful juice base, so I decided to blend these acerolas with hibiscus infusion, adding a touch of lemon; so today I present to you my ACEROLA AND HIBISCUS JUICE (and a touch of lemon).

Saludos, queridos @drinklovers.

The acerolas I'm using I picked this morning, as well as the lemon that will give this drink an extra touch of acidity. It's so rewarding to be able to harvest what we eat, because you can appreciate and value food even more. That said, let's get to the recipe!

THE RECIPE / LA RECETA

Time, ingredients and equipment

  • Preparation time: This is a simple recipe; however, the hibiscus needs to be boiled, so it takes approximately 30 minutes to prepare.

  • The quantities can vary according to individual taste and availability.

  • Servings: Here I prepared approximately 1 liter of acerolas and hibiscus juice, but this amount can vary.

  • 120 grams of ripe acerolas.

  • 25 grams of dried hibiscus flowers.

  • 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, to sanitize the fruit.

  • Enough water to wash, soak, and rinse the acerolas.

  • 350 ml of drinking water, to boil the hibiscus.

  • 500 ml of drinking water, to blend the acerolas.

  • 1 lemon (you can substitute it with another citrus fruit).

  • Sweetener to taste. I used 50 grams of white sugar.

  • Ice to taste.

  • Plate, knife, blender, spoon, strainer, etc.

Tiempo, ingredientes y equipo

  • Plato, cuchillo, licuadora, cucharilla, colador, etc.

THE PROCEDURE / EL PROCESO

Disinfect the fruit with clean water and vinegar, letting it soak for 20 minutes in this mixture. It should be noted that even though I pick these fruits directly from my trees, I still disinfect them because insects and birds can contaminate them.

Meanwhile, place the dried hibiscus flowers in water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat for approximately 10 minutes. After this time, let it steep for another 10 minutes.

After the fruit has soaked, rinse it thoroughly with clean water and place it in a blender. Add the drinking water and blend at high speed for approximately 1 minute. Strain and set aside.

Colar y reservar.

Strain the hibiscus tea and add it to the juice of the acerola. Add the juice of one lemon, making sure to remove all the seeds. Sweeten and mix well.

Cheers!

@sirenahippie...

Hello, dear soul! Yes, I know... it has been a long time since I stopped by. Life has been busy being life (you know how that goes), but I wanted to stop by and say, what a unique drink you have created! I must say this drink certainly would have a very tangy and robust taste! I have had cherries before, as well as lemon. But the only Hibiscus I have ever experienced was planting one in our yard. So I am not sure what that taste would be. But with the cherries and lemons, I am guessing it would perhaps overpower the hibiscus? Either way, love this recipe as well as the decorative mats and containers, AND that beautiful glass!! Thank you for sharing this with us! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas planned with family and friends!

Hello my dear friend! It's so nice to see you visiting my post. It's true, I know life is super complicated, but it's so lovely to know that we're always remembered.

You know, this juice surprised me a lot because the flavor is so good—it's tangy, sweet, and potent. As for the hibiscus, it adds a very pleasant flavor, along with a deep red color.

I'm glad you like the rugs; they're really lovely. And about the glass, it's a family heirloom. They were my Aunt Chichita's glasses, which I still have and use. They're beautiful; I don't think they make them like that anymore.

I hope you're doing well, that you had a wonderful Christmas Eve, and that you're having a beautiful Christmas.

Hugs!

This is really a healthy drink that is very good for the body

Saludos.
