Family gatherings become more memorable when the overall experience is fun. One factor that adds to this is the location of the celebration.
It was my niece's birthday, and we were invited to celebrate with her on this special occasion. The venue for the gathering was Cocina 1914, a restaurant located in Barili, Cebu.
From the outside, the restaurant looks like an old ancestral house, but once you step inside, you'll see that it’s much more than that. I'm not sure about the origin of this place, but I’d like to believe it was once home to a prominent family during the Spanish colonial era.
Although the place has undergone several renovations, they preserved the original house, which now serves as the main restaurant. Beside the house is a swimming pool, with a few cottages surrounding it.

The restaurant mainly serves Chinese cuisine, and while the food was decent, the service was a bit slow. Still, the overall ambiance of the place is cozy and enjoyable.

The kids had a great time in the pool since it wasn’t too deep. Meanwhile, the adults relaxed with some refreshments while catching up. And of course, I had fun taking photos of the place — something I always love doing just about anywhere!
All in all, it was a fun and relaxing afternoon with the family. The place had a nice mix of old charm and chill vibes, which made the celebration even more special. It’s one of those simple get-togethers that leave you with good memories and lots of photos to look back on.
