My last Day in Hong Kong!

in Hive PH4 days ago (edited)

Hello Hive! Maybe you remember that I was pondering quitting my work as a domestic helper in Hong Kong to go back to the Philippines?

Freedom or Safety?

My plan was to start my own food selling business.
Can you imagine what a mental struggle it has been between my wish to be free and independent and the fear to leave the safety of my 'golden cage' to work for a rich family in Hong Kong?

Altogether they treated me in a fair way and I loved their children. I was far from being rich but received a stable salary, enough to survive and support my son in Manila and the rest of my family in Maragusan from time to time. But nevertheless I didn't feel truly free and lived so far away from my family.

Sometimes my doubts seemed to be stronger, sometimes my hope... But you know what? In the end I decided to leave Hong Kong to start a new life in my home country!

Cleaning one last Time!

This past Saturday was my last day in Hong Kong! One last time I was cleaning the huge, beautiful house of my employer. I wanted to leave the place where I had stayed and worked for more than 14 years in a good condition!

Writing a Book!

Actually, I am currently writing a book about my life, my childhood and youth, the poverty, my different stations as domestic helper in Singapore and Hong Kong, and the lessons I learned on my Journey of Life. I hope I can navigate the process of writing, editing, and finally publishing it - but that's another adventure on its own...

Last Meal from Jollibee!

After cleaning I enjoyed my last meal in Hong Kong: I bought some delicious chicken from Jollibee (cooking myself would have caused even more cleaning work shortly before my departure), and then I already had to leave for the airport to start my next adventure!

Thank You All!

Thank you all so much, my Hive family, for your unwavering support. I truly hope that starting over in this new chapter of life won't be too difficult. Life is always an adventure! Let's keep moving forward and creating new stories every day. While not every story is a good one, I always strive to find the best possible solution in every situation.

Thank you for all the love. And please, wish me luck!

Haha, what is so surprising? Because it's not healthy? You know, it had to be fast because after eating I had already to prepare to leave for the airport.

:P no.. i thought, at first, u were saying that was ur last JBee forever.. like anywhere.. even in PH. say it ain't so..

Nooo, I will still go to Jollibee in future, hehe. But it was my last meal in Hong Kong! 😊

Congratulations on going back home for good and I hope your business plan would be successful with your whole family.

Thank you so much for the good wishes, @ronimarie82! 😊

Wow I wish you the best of luck, following our hearts is sometimes difficult, yet always rewarding. I hope you feel lighter and free 💗

Thank you so much for your warm wishes, @lynds! Let's see how things will work out in the end.

I understand your feelings, that finally you will be living with your family yet doubts are there especially in financial matters.

Thus, life is always a gamble and we need to take a risk.

Praying your plans would be succcess!

Currently I am in Manila where also my son lives. The rest of my family is in Maragusan, but it is also easier now than before to visit them.

Thanks you so much for your good wishes!

Leaving Hong Kong after 14 years must have been emotional, but choosing freedom and following your dreams is truly inspiring. Wishing you all the success, happiness and courage as you embrace this exciting new chapter back home.

It's actually even longer than 14 years because before I had another employer...
Thank you for the good wishes, @gretelarmfeg! 😘

Wow, even longer than 14 years, that’s incredible! Your dedication and resilience over all those years are truly admirable.🤗

Happy to know that you're finally reunited with your family, especially your son for good.
Best of luck on your planned business. I'm sure it will succeed.
God bless you @gen-quimba..🙂🙏💖
