Beer Tasting - Brewdog Black Heart & Reservoir Dogs Mea Culpa

in BEER5 days ago

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

It's Saturday, and #BeerSaturday, the 407th in a row, it's here!

Just yesterday, I thought I would rest more than not today, but I had to go somewhere earlier in the morning and came back late.

But I still got home early enough to enjoy the two beers waiting for me in the fridge since yesterday - one English and one Slovenian - and I am happy to report on my beer experience.
Someone else may like them, too.

First of all, the one with the least alcohol.

🍻 😎 🍻

BrewDog Black Heart Draught Stout

Brewed by BrewDog, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Can, 0.44 l, alcohol 4.1% ABV, IBU N/A. Irish Dry Stout style.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Forget everything you know about stout. Forget what you think it tastes like. And forget having to go to Dublin to get a good pint of it. There’s a new stout in town, and it’s demanding your attention. Chocolate and extra dark crystal malts give layers of roasted, toasted coffee and cocoa, with a hint of caramel coming through.

🍺

BrewDog is, for me, one of the best English breweries, and I always try one of their beers if and when I have the chance. And now is the opportunity to try one of their stouts.

The beer is dark, almost black. There is little head, but it is persistent and very creamy. There is a slight coffee smell. A sip goes down the throat smoothly. I taste the bitterness of roasted malt in my mouth, which transitions into notes of bitter chocolate, cocoa, and coffee. I did not taste any sweet nuance.
The bitterness of chocolate and coffee lingers in the aftertaste for a while.

This is a very creamy and tasty beer. The bitterness is prevalent but not extreme enough to put me off. I didn't taste the caramel.
Nevertheless, I find it a delicious stout. Here, it's only available to order from a specialist shop; local shops don't have it (yet). I'll have to compare it with Guinness Stout one of these days.

🍻 😎 🍻

Yes, this morning I had to take my elder son to the hospital in Izola, on the Slovenian coast, for an emergency procedure. It took a while, but everything worked out well.
Then, because we were hungry, we went to El Torro Steak House for something to eat. We hadn't been there yet, I ordered one steak and roasted vegetables,

And my son ordered ribs.

The food was excellent; I'll be back again and recommend it to anyone who happens to be there.
I did have one beer there, a draft Birter, but I won't even comment on it.

🍻 😎 🍻

Reservoir Dogs Mea Culpa Imperial IPA

Brewed by Reservoir Dogs, Nova Gorica, Slovenia.
Can, 0.44 l, alcohol 10% ABV, IBU 94 - Imperial IPA style beer.

What do the Master Brewers say?

We admit: our mistake. We have accidentally used too much barley and hops. On top of that, we dry hopped it four times. The result? A hops bomb – in other words, an imperial IPA. Measurements say it is 10% alcohol and has a huge IBU, however they are hardly noticeable. This is a well-balanced beer you will want to drink from the largest mug. As we said: Mea Culpa!

🍺

Reservoir Dogs is one of the oldest craft breweries in Slovenia. Their beers are appreciated everywhere. Everything I've tried from them has been great. But this one with 10% ABV and 94 IBU is hard to imagine. I've never tasted a beer that hopped that much.
I'm curious :)

The beer is brown and amber. The head is average and falls quickly. It smells of pineapple. A sip goes down the throat smoothly. I taste a bitterness in my mouth, which is not extreme at all but perfectly balanced with the sweet, tropical flavors of pineapple and mango. Surprisingly, I don't feel any alcohol at all (I probably will later, haha).
The bitterness of the hops lingers in the aftertaste for a while; everything else fades away.

A very drinkable beer! The bitterness and sweetness of tropical fruits are perfectly matched. I even find it less bitter than the usual IPA beers. But it has as much alcohol as if you drank half a liter of wine! Probably masked by, as they wrote, four hoppings. But one of these beers is enough; I can't imagine drinking anymore because the alcohol comes later. It is available in local Spar shops.
I should have one of these in the fridge to offer to friends :)

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to when tasting beers and writing this? Something from Fridays #newtunes. Dark wave and amazing vocal.

100% for Black Heart! My favorite dark dark beer!

Yeah! I can confirm it's good! 😎🍻
!INDEED

You also got a bottle of my favorite Cockta drink in your frame 🙂
What Coca Cola or Pepsi? Cockta is the best.

I will look for this Imperial Mea Culpa beer in the SPAR market 😀

My son chose Cockta, I chose Birter 😎.
If your local Spar has Reservoir Dogs beers, then they probably have it.

I'm traveling to Hungary tomorrow, I'll look there 🙂
We don't have a SPAR chain here.

I'm drinking coffee right now and looking at this dark beer, lol, salivating here.

🎶BLACK HEART, my heart cries out for you!🎤🎤

Its alcohol percentage is low, which is attractive in some situations. Lately I've been traveling a lot, I'm opting for beers like this, if I drink with every client with a high percentage, they'll have to carry me home. HAHAHAAA

I bet on the Black Heart Beer to be my favorite
Thank you for sharing this experience
Have a great week

Thanks. Yes, Black Heart is good one :)
