Let me tell you about my day: the outdoor temperature hit 41 degrees—it was absolute madness. Most cities in Tuscany were under a "red alert" heat warning. To give you an idea, I woke up absolutely drenched in sweat; I showered right away, yet ten minutes later, I was incredibly sweaty again. We’re sweating just by standing still these days! And cold showers aren't enough. The only upside is that when I wash my hair, it dries in about half an hour—no need for a blow-dryer. Anyway, it was so hot that I didn't even feel like cooking. I’ll make an effort to cook today, but yesterday I just heated up some leftover pasta from the day before—the kind made with a ready-made sauce. Lately, cooking feels like more of a chore than usual; it’s just too hot to do anything.
Buenos días, amigos del blog: ¿cómo están? Disculpen mi ausencia de ayer; estuve ocupada lidiando con el calor y ocupándome de mis asuntos. Les cuento cómo fue mi día: la temperatura exterior alcanzó los 41 grados; fue una locura total. La mayoría de las ciudades de la Toscana estaban bajo alerta roja por calor. Para que se hagan una idea: me desperté empapada en sudor; me duché de inmediato, pero diez minutos después ya estaba sudando muchísimo otra vez. ¡Estos días sudamos con solo quedarnos quietos! Y las duchas frías no bastan. Lo único bueno es que, cuando me lavo el pelo, se seca en cosa de media hora; no hace falta usar secador. En fin, hacía tanto calor que ni siquiera tenía ganas de cocinar. Hoy haré el esfuerzo de cocinar, pero ayer simplemente calenté unas sobras de pasta del día anterior, de esas que llevan salsa preparada. Últimamente, cocinar se me hace más pesado de lo habitual; hace demasiado calor para hacer nada.
Anyway, even though we didn't really feel like it, my husband and I had to head out to run some errands—unfortunately, life doesn't stop just because of the high temperatures. We took the opportunity to drive through the countryside nearby; one of our goals is to explore all the rural areas in the vicinity and beyond, and we discovered some lovely spots that I’ll tell you about later. As for dinner, since it was getting late, my husband just had a simple salad—salads are perfect in this heat. I, on the other hand, found some discounted sushi; the pack was a bit small, but everything was delicious—especially the salmon and crab nigiri. En fin, aunque realmente no teníamos muchas ganas, mi marido y yo tuvimos que salir a hacer algunos recados; por desgracia, la vida no se detiene solo por las altas temperaturas. Aprovechamos para dar una vuelta en coche por el campo de los alrededores; una de nuestras metas es explorar todas las zonas rurales de la zona y más allá, y descubrimos algunos lugares encantadores de los que ya os hablaré más adelante. Para la cena, como ya se había hecho tarde, mi marido optó por una ensalada sencilla; las ensaladas son perfectas con este calor. Yo, en cambio, encontré sushi rebajado de precio; la bandeja era algo pequeña, pero todo estaba delicioso, especialmente los nigiris de salmón y cangrejo. Todo estuvo excelente, sobre todo con un chorrito de salsa de soja: un pequeño gran detalle del día.
